Using a telescopic lens, this photograph was in the approximate position where the 11th West Virginia Infantry's Colonel, Daniel Frost stood [center of the 3rd Brigade and in command of] ordering an oblique to the right to front the enemy. It was shortly after his order, when turning back to face the enemy, Frost was mortally wounded in the abdomen.
