Mrs. Susie Cody Haggan, 67, died at her home on Rt. 1, Pennington Gap, November 21, following an illness of several weeks. Surviving are the husband, Jim Haggan of Pennington Gap; one son, George Patrick; two daughters, Mrs. George Thompson and Mrs. Barton Baird, all of Pennington Gap; one brother, Ancil Cody of St. Charles; the following step children: Mrs. John Hendricks, and Dave Patrick, St. Charles; Mrs. Roxie Young, Woodway; Mrs. Lilly Lovely (should be Beasley), Red Jacket, WVA; one sister Mrs. Louise Hale, St. Charles. Mrs. Haggan was born in Sneedville, Tenn., and had been a resident of Lee County for the past 60 years. She was a member of Admant Baptist Church where funeral services were held today at 1:00 p.m. by the Rev. Clinton Green of St. Charles. Hale, Eliza Cody St. Charles Woman died at Lee General Aug. 24, 1953 Funeral services for Mrs. Eliza Cody Hale 68, of St. Charles who died in Lee General Hospital on August 24, were held Tuesday afternoon, August 25. The rites were held in the First Baptist Church of St. Charles with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Mrs. Hale was the wife of the late Frank Hale. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Osborne, Pennington Gap, and Mrs. Ed Owens of Harlan, Ky; two sons, Harry and Charlie Hale, both of St. Charles; a brother, Ancil Cody, also of St. Charles. ST. CHARLES, VA - Daniel M. Cody, 46, died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. Mr. Cody, a retired miner, was a member of Local 6444 of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a member of the First Baptist Church here and was a lifelong resident of Lee County. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Stella Cody; his mother, Mrs. Victoria Cody, Dayton, Ohio; four sons, Darrell Cody and Winifred Cody, both stationed in Korea with the army and Jeffrey Cody and Danny Cody both of St. Charles; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Opan, West Carrollson, Ohio, Sandra Cody, Dana Cody and Sherry Cody, all of St. Charles; four brothers, Lawrence Cody, Odis Cody and Louie Cody, all of St. Charles, and Lester Cody, Xenia, Ohio; and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Bishop, Hammonds, Ind., Mrs. Elta Carroll, Detroit, and Mrs. Cora Terry, Dayton, Ohio. Province Funeral Home, Pennington Gap, is in charge. Cody - Funeral services for Daniel M. Cody will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, St. Charles with the Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Woodway, VA. The family will receive friends after 7 p.m. Friday at Province Funeral Home, Pennington Gap. Mrs. Stella R. Cody, 56, of 184 Delta Dr. Morristown died Friday at Doctors Hospital. She was a former resident of St. Charles, VA. She was a member of the Virginia Lee Baptist Church. Survivors include sons, Jeffery and Danny Cody of Morristown, Darrell Cody of Russellville and Winfred Cody of Union, Ohio; daughters, Barbara Ogan and Sandra Gibbs of West Carolton, Ohio, Dara Daniels and Sherry Beach of Morristown. Sister, Pauline Terrelt of Mitchel, Ind. And Veda Gibson of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Today at Sturgil Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with the Rev. Cody, Wilson E. Passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 12, 1960, at his residence, age 76 years. He was born April 15, 1884, in Tennessee and has lived in the Saginaw area the past 18 years, coming here from Kentucky. In 1913 he married Rachael Ayers. She predeceased him in 1953. He married Mrs. Laura Sams in 1854. She survives him. The deceased was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife are five sons and three daughters, Jessie L. Cody, Freeland; Lee Cody, Lakeland, Fla; Wilburn Cody, Battle Creek; Lonzo Cody, Wichita, Kansas; Fred Cody and Mrs. James Grauherr, Shields; Mrs. Mildred Jones, Saginaw; and Mrs. Cleties Haupt, Cincinnati, Ohio.; 22 grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother Tom Cody, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cederberg Funeral Home. Rev. Kenny will officiate, with burial in Owen Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Grauherr, Mrs. Lillie M. 1525 South River Road Wife of James V. Grauherr Passed away Saturday morning at St. Luke's Hospital following a lingering illness. Age 46 years. She was born June 14, 1918 in Middlesboro, KY and had lived in Saginaw for the past 23 years. She was married to Mr. Grauherr in Indiana in 1951. Mrs. Grauherr has been employed at the Saginaw Malleable Iron for 14 years prior to her retirement because of illness two years ago. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and a son. Mrs. Ronald (Layunia) Leitz, Saginaw; David and Kathy Grauherr, both at home; three grandchildren; five brothers, and two sisters, Fred Cody, Mrs Donald McKinley both of Saginaw, Jesse L. Cody, Freeland, Wilburn Cody, Battle Creek, Mrs. Cletus Haupt, Huntsville, AL, A/1C Lonzo Cody, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Hawaii. Funeral service will take place at 1:30 pm Tuesday at Cederbreg Funeral Home. Rev. Von Cavanaugh will officiate with burial in Owen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm Sunday. Middlesboro, Kentucky Passed away Monday evening at the home of her brother Wilson Cody, 9980 Gratiot Road. She was born May 28, 1869 in Mayville, Tenn. Surviving are two sons Henry Williams and Clarence (?) both of Saginaw. Two brothers Wilson Cody Saginaw, Thomas Cody Kentucky. Private funeral service was held Tuesday at noon at the Cody residence. John Melvin Cody, 88 of 1905 E. Glenn St, died at 8:35 pm Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was born in Tennessee and had been a resident of Springfield for 20 years. His wife, Maude died in 1941. Surviving are nine sons, Campbell, John J., Thomas all of Springfield; Jim of Jonesville, VA; George of Gray Knob, KY; Frank of Divernon; John Henry of Pawnee; Coby of Chatham; Gene of San Jose; two daughters, Mrs. Julia Poinstingle and Mrs Mary Carroll both of Springfield; one brother, Solley Cody of Morristown, TN; 85 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Vancil Funeral Mansion. |

Cody, James Russell, age 46 years 9 months died at the Lyons Hospital Rogersville, on May 15th following a short illness. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna Ramsey Cody, two sons, Harold and Jimmy Cody; three daughters, Joy, Frances and Betty Joe, all of Sneedville. Also his father G. W.Cody, a sister, Mrs. W. H. Tyler, Sneedville; four brothers, Omer, Taylor and Kermit of Sneedville and Hubert Cody of Kingsport. Funeral Services were held at the home on Wednesday at 2;00 pm.
