This indenture made and entered into this 2nd day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty six between Zedekiah Coody and Tabitha his wife of the county of Scott and the state of Virginia of the one part and Charles Addington Jr of the county and state above mentioned of the other part witnesseth that the said Zedekiah Coody and Tabitha his wife for and in consideration of the sum of thirty six dollars lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by their presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Charles Addington Jr a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifteen acres be the same more or less lying in the county of Scott on the south side of Moccasin Creek and bounded as follows to wit Beginning a white walnut and sycamore on the south baqnk of said creek on or near a line of said Coody’s and Addington thence down said creek running with the middle and meander thereof until it comes to where said lines of Coody and Addinton crosses said creek to a white oak sugar tree and cedar on the east bank of said creek thence to the bginning with all and singular the appurtenanaces there unto belonging unto the said Charles Addington Jr his heirs and assignees forever and the said Zedekiah Coody and Tabitha his wife doth for themselves and their heirs forever warrant and defend the said tract or parcel of land unto the said Charles Addington Jr his heirs or assignees againest the claim or claims of all persons whosoever. In witness whereof the said Zedekiah Coody and Tabitha his wife have hereunto signed their names and affixed their seals the day and year herein written

We Cornelius Fugate and Ira Fugate justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that Zedekiah Coody a party to a certain deed bearing dates the 2nd day of May one thousand and eight hundred & forty six and hereto answered personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and delivered us to certify the said acknowledgment to the clerks of the county court of Scott in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals this 2nd day on May 1846.

We Cornelius Fugate and Ira Fugate justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Tabitha Coody the wife of Zedekiah Coody party to a certain deed bearing date on the second day of May 1846 and hereunto answered personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and beng examined by us privitly and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Tabitha Coody acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it. This indenture of bargains and sale for land from Zedkiah Coody & Tabitha his wife to Charles Addington Jr certified to have been acknowledged before two Magistrates of Scott County was this day received in the Court & together with this certificate hereon orderd to be recorded.
