On this 23rd day of September A. D. 1869 personally came before the undersigned authority Mahala Cody widow of William Cody late of Co C 8th regt. Tenn Infty. And after being duly sworn states on oath the names and dates of birth and number of all the children under 16 years of age at the death of the said William Cody and in fact all the children of applicant and deceased and all the legitimate children of deceased is as follows to wit.

1. James R. Cody was born the 15 August 1853
2. Catharine Cody was born the 24 March 1855
3. John Cody was born the 24 day of Dec 1856
4. Zedakiah Cody was born 14 April 1859
5. Henry Cody was born 25 March 1861
6. Mary Elizabeth Cody was born 21 Dec 1862

That this is the whole number of children living at the date of July 25, 1866. Before that date Richard Cody had died and perhaps he was on the first and original application and was a child also of applicant and deceased.
