She looked over to husband who was pacing. “ Would you stop that, they’ll be here in a minute.”
“And tell me why we are here again?”
“Because your son insists that we meet him and his girlfriend for dinner.”
It was then that she heard her oldest come up behind her, “Hey mom looking good.”
She smiled, “Thanks Ben, you’re late.”
“Sorry but Kats parents are running late, they’ll join us when they get here. So lets go ahead and get seated. Okay dad?”
Seeing his father nod in agreement he gave the host their names and put out his arm for his mom.
It was 20 minutes later before he spotted Kat and her parents, as they were lead to the table.
The look that past among the four older adults could have melted ice.
At the same time came out, “Harm, Mic, Mac and Renee.”
The two younger one looked at each other lost and replied at the same time with, “Mom, Dad?”
Harm spoke first, “Why didn’t you tell us who you were dating?”
Mac leaned back in her chair in shock at seeing her old love.
“Sorry dad, I didn’t know that it mattered.”
“I could ask you the same thing dear?” Renee asked her child with a glare.
“Why, would you have disapproved?”
“If I would have know their last name and who their parents were, yes I would have had something to say about it. I always have in the past.”
“Honey! Are you okay?” Mac’s husband asked her.
She just looked up at her husband, “I think I need some air.” As she got up and left the table leaving Mic and Harm glaring at each other and headed for the door.
Ben looked over to his father wanting an explanation, “Just what is going on Dad, Kat and I asked you all here so we could tell you we plan on getting married.”
Renee grabbed a waiter, “A Scotch on the rocks, and make it a double.” She said as she collapsed into her seat.
“Bloody Hell, make mine the same.”
Same time
“Harm? Are you awake?”
“I am now, I just had the worst dream, or should I say nightmare.”
“Me too, I dreamt our child was planning on marring Mic’s.”
“You know it could happen, that is if we don’t tell our children everything about who we dated.”
“They have a right to know so we have to go through the nightmare we just both woke up from.”
“So,” she asked as she rubbed her still flat stomach, “Do you hope that the dream is true and this one is a boy?
“Yes I do, I mean but I would love to have a girl with your looks and my brains.”
Mac cuddled up to her husband of two years, “Well flyboy, a boy with your looks and my brains would be okay too.”
