Until We Meet Again My Friend.......
1993 -2008
This was the man who started my love affair. I rescued him from a home that kept him in a barb wire area with horses. With all the dirt, cuts, scrapes, and kick marks, I knew he had to come home with me. He laid his head on my lap all the way home. He had the most soulful eyes and we bonded instantly. He was immediately taken to my vet and doctored up. Even after such a long day, he still came to me, tail wagging. Max was diagnosed with wobblers and several other problems over the years. His zest for life up until the end made we want to do everything I can for him and this magnificent breed. I researched the breed, genetics and health issues of a dane. It was then I decided to pursue bettering the breed. He loved to go "bye-bye" and was my boating and fishing buddy. He never had to be crated or in a fenced area. Every morning he would go outside and do a once over in the yard. He would then find his favorite spot and lay sunning himself and keeping an eye over "his world". If we had to leave and he stayed home, he would be in the same place when we came home as when we left. He would run up to us as to say," Area secure mom, Welcome home!"  Even though he was never bred, He taught all the animals who came through the CNW home the "rules" He was often seen sunning himself with barn cats curled up next to him. He was top dog and all the other animals respected him, even at the end. When this winter hit and the meds for all his pain didnt work anymore, we decided it was time to say goodbye. He is still here, out by his favorite sun spot, watching over us. I know he is waiting to walk me down the path and over the bridge where he will say, Welcome home Mom.  I Miss you my big guy. Rest softly .....
******I want to thank Angel from DWDanes for making Max's memorial for me. Words cannot describe how I feel. The picture of the rainbow and path was snapped at my home after a spring storm close to where my "Old Man" loved to lay. It couldnt have been a better pic for her to use. Again, Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
