The harpsichord has been around for over 400 years. It is an instrument for which much music has been written. Its crisp sound is perfect for polyphonic music. There are many different types of harpsichords: virginalls, spinets and the wing-shaped harpsichord. They all work in the same manner: a string is plucked by a quill.
