| Akira Kurosawa was born on March 23 1910 in Tokyo. Akira was nominated for a Oscar once, for "Ran" in 1985. Two of his films won the Best Foreign Language Film category("Rashomon",1950 and "Dersu Uzala",1975). In 1990 he recieved a Honorary Oscar. On September 6th 1998, Akira Kurosawa died.
