If you ever have the opportunity to come to Washington state
be sure you take the drive up to Deception Pass.
From Seattle you can easily make the drive in one day.
The view is breath-taking... absolutely beautiful.

On our day trip we usually stop at Rosario Beach for a picnic.
Our favorite picnic spot at Rosario Beach is on a strip of land
with the Puget Sound on both sides of us.

After our picnic we drive on to Fort Casey.
Our usual plan is to be at Fort Casey at Sunset.
It depends on the time of year... and how late we want to get home.
I suggest you take flashlights and go exploring the old barracks.
There are no lights in the barracks so it is VERY dark in some of them.
When you go to the fort be sure you don't miss the lighthouse!
I'm not sure of the lighthouse hours, but it closes fairly early.
The wait for the ferry can be very long so plan on having something
in the car to keep the little ones entertained. We have waited anywhere
from 30 minutes up to 2 hours for the ferry. The long drive and ferry wait
are all worth it in the long run though. It's a beautiful drive.
