Kenosha, Wisconsin, June, 2000

My roommate Suzy and I drove to Wisconsin to see Firehouse at the Rock on the Lake Festival.  When we got there I noticed that everyone was there but Perry. I was confused but thought at first that he must be off doing something. After a short while, the guys came out to do soundcheck. When they took the stage, I realized that Perry wasn't with them. I was extremely disappointed to find out that he was no longer in the band.  A stranger was taking his place on the stage and I wasn't sure how this was going to affect me. They guys did the usual -  All She Wrote, along with two new songs...Call Of The Night, (awesome song) and Jumpin, a fast paced rocker that blew me away. We couldn't hear C. J.'s vocals during Jumpin' but I could tell by the music that it was a killer song and his amazing voice would only add to that. After soundcheck, C. J. and Bill came over to say hi. It had started raining and continued on during the setup. We were starting to worry that the show might not go on. About an hour after showtime the guys finally took the stage. Bill told me later that they had been sitting there for about an hour when he decided that the people had been waiting long enough and it was time to go out and play. Good decision Bill! The show was amazing as usual. They opened with one of my favorite songs, Overnight Sensation, and continued on with other greats such as All She Wrote, Shake And Tumble, Reach For The Sky, Don't Walk Away, Don't Treat Me Bad, as well as others. Of course they also did the awesome ballads that they are most known for, and the two new songs as well. All in all, it was a typical Firehouse show...AWESOME!!!!!!! After the show my friends and I went over to see the guys during the meet n' greet. It was then that we met new bassist Bruce Waibel. He was very friendly and seemed to enjoy meeting us. I have to say that even though I still miss Perry and the original line up as it was, Bruce is an amazing musician and can harmonize with the best of them. I know they made the right choice in Bruce! We were able to talk to the guys again the next day and say our goodbyes. I always hate that part...especially if I don't know when I will be seeing them next. But once again, they gave me another awesome show and some great memories. Here's to many more Firehouse shows!
