32nd Kentucky Infantry
The 32nd Kentucky Infantry was recruited and organized at Frankfort and Camp Burnside, Kentucky in August 1862 by Colonel Thomas Z. Morrow. The field and staff and all the companies, with the exception of Company B and Captain Taylor's Company, were mustered into service at Camp Burnside, Kentucky. Company B was mustered in at Frankfort and Captain Taylor's Company at Louisville. During its term of service, the Regiment
participated in the following known engagements:
Bragg's Invasion |
Perryville, Kentucky |
Before the men were mustered into service the regiment was engaged in active service in the defense of Kentucky against Bragg's invasion and subsequent pursuit in 1862 and a portion of the regiment participated in the battle of Perryville under the command of Colonel T. T. Garrard. The Regiment was kept in the state, with the exception of Captain Robert B. Taylor's Company, and engaged in guard and scouting duty at various points in the District of Western Kentucky, principally at Hopkinsville, Camp Burnside, Danville, Lexington, Somerset, Stanford, and Lebanon. Captain Robert B. Taylor's company appears to have been recruited for the 32nd Kentucky Infantry, but before it was mustered into service was consolidated with Company I, of the 22nd Kentucky Infantry, with which regiment it served for three years. The 32nd Kentucky Infantry was mustered out from May 28 to August 12, 1863.
