Remarks:
Complete show: Yes
Notes: I got
this show from a friendly trader in Taiwan while looking for some Jeff Buckley.
David has the most amazing jazz collection I’ve seen. Anyway, I’ve been a Joni
Mitchell fan since my teens (really!) and it was great to listen to this
performance, my first Joni bootleg.
Compared to her 2 official
“live” releases, the sound is, of course, not what you might expect but I
dare say that this recording has a vibrancy and intimacy that is not captured
in either Miles of Aisles (released in 1974) or Shadows and Light
(1980). The band, as David writes below, is special. Their performance soars,
collectively and individually. David also wrote:
Mono recording, but sounds great. Original master was stolen from taper, who subsequently recovered a copy from someone he had given it to. Jaco has a long feature during which he plays out of his skull (of course). Fantastic set list and perfect band. I'm SO glad this recording exists!
