Notes:
Complete show: Yes plus The Replacements’ opening as support for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
The Replacements v2: Westerberg: Guitar,
Vocals. Tommy Stinson: Bass. Slim Dunlap: Guitars. Chris Mars: drums. CD 2,
tracks 10 to 16 with the Heartbreakers’ pianist, Benmont Tench, as special
guest.
CD quality: Damm, I’ve received so many
flawed copies. I’ve cleaned up one copy but you can still hear blips.
Remarks:
What else do you need? OK, the
sound of the main show (CD 1 and tracks 1-5 of CD 2) leaves a something to be
desired. But the second disc makes up for it. First, you get the best
ever performance of Sadly Beautiful. Paul puts his heart out
here and, however brief, it’s music to behold. Second, the latter half of the
Kingswood show also features the keyboardist from Tom Petty’s backing band, The
Heartbreakers. Another Girl, Another planet with piano: how great is
that? Best of all, there’s someone in the audience who’s clearly at the show
primarily for The Replacements and leaves right after they’re done. Too bad his
request for Achin’ to be doesn’t get played.
