Notes:

Complete show: Yes, but is it a show?

Musicians: The Replacements v 1.

CD quality: Perfect, seamless copy.

Sound quality: Let’s put it this way, you can just about make out that a concert is going on.

Remarks:

Well, I don’t know what to say about this show. It sounds as if everyone was drunk, apart from the taper. This is what happened as far as I can make out. The Mats are pretty drunk, as usual, and stumble through the first couple of songs. A fan screams for Bob constantly and before you know it, Paul decides to do more songs about Bob. Hence the eclectic selection of songs, with classics such as Stairway to Bob, Bobdamn Bob, Help Me Bob, Freebob, Bob Night Special and Bob Beat It's A Love Beat.

Is this show for you? If you want an introduction to The Mats, then “No”, this one’s not for you. This one is too much “slacker Mats” with no countervailing musical integrity – the best shows have both dimensions intertwined.

If you love music, then, “No”, this one’s not for you either.

If you’re a recovering alcoholic, then “Goddammit, stay clear of this CD”, this one’s not for you.

If you’re curious about what they were drinking, go for it.
