Making Candles

For Ritual, Spiritual and Personal Use

Umm. The smell of scented candles just makes me want to meditate. But out in the great capitalist world, some of those candles just reek. I am sure you have expirenced the "Nasty and Foul smoking candle" from hell. Well, after some exprimentation, I have made the most wonderful candle. Smells yummy, too.

First off, I used more beeswax rather than parafin. Beeswax doesn't smoke like parafin, but it's more expensive. I used a little parafin because it is hard, and will help the candle set up well.
Since I was feeling a bit in the romantic mood, I used the following oils:

  • Love Oil
  • Musk Oil
  • Lemon Essencial Oil
  • Honeysuckle Oil

I added enough of the oils to heavily scent the oil, and that it was pleasnt to me. When I smell the candle, I think of romance and a certain young man....

For the wick, I used the hemp you braid with. It doesn't reek at all like marijuana, thank the Gods! I just dipped it in melted beeswax to stiffen it.

    Here's a step by step:

    1) Cut off a chunk of beeswax, about 1.5-2 oz.
    2) Put it in a little sauce pan, on med-lo temp.
    3) Cut off a chunk of parafin (about .25 of the brick) Tossed it in with the beeswax.
    4) Prepare the Mold! I used a old soda can. Cut off the top, rinsed it out and PooF! recylable mold! Use the tab to anchor the wick.
    5) When melted, pour wax into mold.
    6) Wait about 5 minutes before you add your scents.
    7) Leave undisturbed for 24 hours.
    8) ready to remove from mold? Get a little paring knife, slit the mold from top to bottem, and repeat all around. Be careful not to cut yourself!
    9) Light it up, and wiff!

You can make ritual candles, meditation candles and spell candles like that.
