Oregon State High School Championship

Cascade High School will be hosting Oregon's 2nd annual high school state championship for mountain bikers. Any high school student from the state of Oregon is invited, and 3 people from the same school constitutes a team (3 male or 3 female). Medals are planned to be given 15 deep in both sexes, and there are no skill level classes. The top 3 finishing teams will receive plaques.

We've already picked the date, Saturday June 1st, 2002, and here's the place: Kimmel Park, Mill City, Oregon. What else is there to know? It is NORBA sanctioned and the top finishers will be invited to the 2002 Nationals! This year's courses will be a modified Santiam Pedalfest beginner course. It consist of 7.5 miles of fire road and singletrack.

Important!
  • The Oregon State High School Championship will be insured under the National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) insurance policy, so OBRA licenses will not be honored.

Everyone races the same 7.5 mile course. There are no beginner/sport/expert divisions.

License

All racers will be required to hold a valid National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) license. OBRA licenses will not be honored. One-day licenses are suggested because they only cost $5; annual licenses are more expensive and not really needed. Both types can be purchased at the race site.

Awards/Prizes!
  • Medals planned to go 15 deep in the male and female categories
  • Trophies 3 deep for overall male and female teams
  • A raffle will be held after the race

Please keep in mind that these entry fees do not include the cost of a NORBA license. A NORBA license will be an additional $5 and should be purchased at the race.

All athletes will be required to sign an Entry and Release form. All riders under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian signature on the Release form. Contact the CHS Cycling Club if you would like one mailed to you prior to the event, or download a form. DO NOT SEND NORBA LICENSE PAYMENT! To pre-register, fill out the Entry and Release form and mail with check or money order, payable to:
