Doctors Worldwide

Doctor's World Wide Mission Statement

"To relieve need among people, Who are victims of poverty, famine, disease, natural and man-made disasters, wars and civil wars, Irrespective of race, religion, ideology or politics, By the provision of comprehensive medical relief worldwide."

History of Doctors Worldwide

In a world full of poverty, disease, war, and hardships, particularly in third-world countries, many people are in great need of help, but lack a means to seek it themselves. Thus, Doctors Worldwide was created in April 2000 to provide medical care to those who need it, but are unable to get such medical aid themselves. Doctors Worldwide helps any person anywhere with whatever health related issue they may have. The organization has helped tens of thousands of people spread across four continents in its short five-year history.

How Doctors Worldwide Works

Doctors Worldwide has three different "teams" that make the organization helpful on a worldwide spectrum. First, there is an "emergency response" team that responds quickly to world emergencies, such disasters both natural and created by man. Second, there is another portion of the organization that treats and attempts to prevent disease outbreaks and infections created by a hazardous living environment. Third, there is a group that works in areas for extended periods of time, often working with and alongside native doctors. This group also focuses on "rehabilitating" communities and re-building a health-care system, in such ways as establishing clinics and training local doctors and health-care workers.

Where Doctors Worldwide has Helped

Doctors Worldwide have helped those in need in many countries throughout the world, including Mexico, Guatemala, Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Ingushetia, Sierra Leone, Congo, Uganda, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, and Sri Lanka. Doctors Worldwide have sent aid and doctors to these nations to help the sick and injured, established clinics in these countries, and educated others to continue the work that the organization originally brought.

Why is Doctors Worldwide an Organization of Faith?

Doctors Worldwide truly displays faith in its organizations. This organization provides free help and aid to the poor and needy, regardless or location, religion, race, or label. They make the world a better place by giving those who may have lost hope a chance at a better life, and they have saved countless lives themselves. I chose this organization because I have given thought to becoming a doctor, and if I did become a doctor, I would definitely want to join an organization like Doctors Worldwide to help anybody in need.
