We decided to go to this cave in Buda that Mike Freitag knows about. He didn't have a name for it so I decided to call it Secret Cave. Anyways, we all met at the 360 access then followed Mike to the spot. When we got into the woods, we started off in one direction and began looking.
We finally came across a big tree to our left and Mike recognized it as the place. Sure enough, we got closer and saw the entrances. It looked pretty cool because it was camouflauged pretty good. There were three entrances. Two to the big room and one to the small room. Mike, Mike and An went back to the cars to move them while Jim and I stayed there. Jim went in the entrance and said you could hear bats in there. I came closer and I heard all this squeaking. It was scary. I went down to inspect some more. I looked up at the ceiling of the cave and saw hundreds of bats flying around in a circle. I got the hell outta there but before I did, I stuck my camera down in there to get a picture of the bats. I didn't get any on film though, as you can see in the pic below.
So then we checked out the smaller cave behind us. The entrance is kinda tight, as you can see in the pic of an going through it. There were only a few bats inside the room but there were a lot of formations in there. It didn't look like there was anywhere to go, except maybe to the right, but it looked like that only led to the big room. So I took a picture. We eventually heard the others coming back. Mike and An came down to check out the room, then we all got out.
Into the big room. When we got in, the bats were still flying around, but it seems like they moved more off to the other side. So we decided to make a run for a downward passage that was across the cave. Jim took off, then me, then the rest. This passage was pretty small and we had to get on our stomachs to look around. I went under this rock to see where the passage went, but it looked way too tight and there was no way I was going in it. An decided to check it out. He went in and came back saying it went nowhere. Meanwhile, the Mikes checked out other passages to see if they went anywhere, but they didn't. So we got out of that little area.
When we got out in the big room again, most of the bats had gone way off to the other side of the cave. We started looking around for more passages. To the right, I found a pasage that went down with a couple more tunnels leading somewhere. But there were bats in there. Jim went in to check it out, but said there was a mountain of guano on the ground and he wasn't going any further. The only way left to go was where the bats were. The other side of the cave looks like it went somewhere but the cal-dern bats were in the way. On the floor in the middle of the big room was a huge mountain of guano. This made the cave smell. We decided to get out of there because it seemed like the bats were getting rather upset. We decide nighttime would be best to explore that cave because most of the bats would be gone (hopefully).
So we all left Secret Cave and headed back to our cars and took off. We went to go eat at the Texican Cafe. So that was the Secret Cave trip. I want to go back again when it is night so the bats will be gone. I'm sure there is more of that cave to explore.
