Devonian Ocean Simulator

This is a test site for the Devonian ocean simulator. Explore this prehistoric ocean and discover some of the creatures that live there.

Also here is another project I'm developing - to produce some photorealistic dinosaurs. Right now I'm working with a group on a protoceratops and an allosaur, trying to create the most true-to-life representations possible. it's a work in progress, but you're welcome to take a look and email your own comments on how the creatures can be improved. You can also email if you'd like to join the group.

You'll need Shockwave installed on your browser, and a pretty fast machine with a good graphics card, to run the simulation successfully - it's really conceived as a museum piece to be run on a dedicated system, but I'd appreciate your comments...

It's about 1mb in size so will take a while to download, and there's a delay after it's loaded while everything is initialised. It will usually start off a little jerky, but settle down and run smoother after a minute or so (again, as this is designed as an installed exhibit, that shouldn't matter).

You can navigate the ocean with the following keys:

I= tilt up

K= tilt down

J= turn left

L= turn right

A= speed up

Z= slow down

place the mouse over a creature to get information on it (note: the info boxes are currently sparse - what will end up in them will depend on the way the project is presented).

For a finished version, there would be some other control system.

I've produced two versions here - the only difference between them is that the high-end version contains more fish, so you'll need a faster machine to make it work smoothly:
