LEE HARVEY OSWALD

Here is LHO in the notorious backyard photos. Are they real or forgeries? Do you know who first said they were fake? LHO himself. Like he's a reliable source.

Of all assassins, there is none surrounded by more mystery than Lee Harvey Oswald. In this event, history and fiction become blurred to the extent that the book many feel best represents LHO is Don DeLillo's novel Libra , and the Movie JFK is accepted as truth as readily as the Warren Commission Report.

The ulitmate winner in total pages on the Web would have to be the JFK Assassination. It's always amazing how the total amount of evidence increases with time, in events of this nature. HIS 324 could hardly contribute to the total overall capacity of such pages to provide a full, multi-sided account of this momentous event and the life of LHO. LEE HARVEY OSWALD--WHY DID HE DO IT?

(An Exercise in Critical Thinking)

Critical thinking means looking at the evidence and drawing conclusions to form a theory, then looking at evidence trying to disprove the theory.  For a murder to take place, investigators always look for three things:  weapon, motive, opportunity.  There are three possibly hypotheses regarding Lee Harvey Oswald's guilt:  1) He didn't do it; 2) He did it alone; 3) He did it as part of a conspiracy.  Below, I briefly go through some of the arguments for and against each hypothesis.  I ask questions and where there are obvious answers, attempt to answer them.

1. HE DIDN'T DO IT.

2. IF HE DID IT , HE DID IT ALONE

3. CONSPIRACY: MUST BE CONSISTENT WITH OSWALD'S MOTIVES

4. IF IT WAS A CONSPIRACY, WHAT KIND OF CONSPIRACY WOULD MAKE SENSE, WOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH MUSCLE BEHIND IT TO SUCCEED, AND THAT THERE IS SOME KIND OF EVIDENCE FOR?
