Chapter Fourteen
Nick bowed his head, placing little kisses along Avalon's collarbone, smiling to himself at the soft sighs she'd give each time his lips touched her skin. He knew now, with that what he had, there could be nothing better. No matter what he'd felt in the past, it couldn't compare to the completion he'd found with Avalon.

Avalon was utterly content, surrounded by candlelight and Nick. Her hand wandered up and down his thigh, she loved to just touch him, be able to feel his skin against hers. She'd never once regretted her decision to leave Heaven- a place that was just a like a faint memory to her now, a vague recollection of a dream. There'd been so much to adjust to that she hadn't realized, but even the pains of real life seemed easy to her, in comparison to having to be apart from Nick. She knew she'd made the right decision, and felt more happiness everyday, experiencing new things in a relationship so nearly perfect it could have only been tailored by Heaven.

Nick slipped his hands around Avalon's waist, gently turning her around to face him and carefully situating her on his lap. He couldn't touch her enough, couldn't spend enough time with her, or see enough of her smiles. He knew what she was talking about now, when she'd said think how amazing a relationship would be with the person who was THE One.. and he knew he'd found her. He kissed her lightly on the lips, "I love you."

"I love you, too. Never forget that."

"You know... you saved my life..." he said quietly. His eyes slowly met hers, and he smiled at the faint twinkle in her eyes from the glowing candlelight. "I think you must be an angel."

"I'm not." Avalon giggled and kissed his cheek. She didn't know whether or not she'd ever tell him. She'd thought about it before- when she'd woken up from having a dream about Heaven. She'd been frightened when she woke, thinking she'd somehow been taken back, and was relieved to find herself still safely held in Nick's embrace, the only place she wanted to be.

"Maybe you were in another life." he smiled.

Avalon gave him a sweet grin, "Maybe you're the angel, and I'm the one that needs saving."

"I'd gladly come to your rescue." he replied, wrapping his arms around her, and hugging her tightly. "I couldn't lose you now.. it'd be like losing part of myself.."

"I'm not going anywhere, I promise." she said, kissing him softly.

Nick returned her kiss, and brushed his fingertips over her cheek, "You know, you were right... in all the things you said, that day, when we first talked about soul mates and perfect matches... and then when I told you I loved you.. I thought you'd read my mind.. you said everything I wanted to tell you.. but just didn't really know how. And I think you were right, too, that everything happens for a reason... 'cause I may not have met you.. if... that.. hadn't happened... but maybe it did, just so we could be together."

Avalon nodded, "Everything has a purpose and happens for a reason... just like I think everyone is created for and exists for a reason... and you're mine."

"I confess,
it's lonely far from you.
Even when you're right by me,
it's only why I wait for you,
take my hand.

Why do I come after you
like I do?
I love you.
You'll be my angel.

My darling heart,
I may be strong,
but I want you..
when you're not here
it's hard to pretend
it's all alright again.

I'm always losing when you're gone..

I love you...
You'll be my angel.
