Aug 17th:
Meet around 6:30pm at a yummy local restarant (I am thinking Chuy's, Cedar
Street, Threadgill's, Waterloo or some other place with a lot of local feel
to it). Any suggestions on style of food? Chuy's is Tex-Mex and Threadgills
is down home cookin' and both are very "Austin". I'm sure we can carpool
easily but if it would be easier for most we can go somewhere downtown.
After that I suggest drinks at the Gingerman. If y'all are beer drinkers at
all, they have over 80 kinds of beer (but no VB, I already checked! LOL!).
They also have wine and cider but I don't think they have liquor. If y'all
are not too into beer then I have heard the Colorado Room is a nice bar.
Ooor we could go to Buffalo Billiards and play pool or we could go to The
Common Intrest and sing karaoke while we toast each other! Opinions, please!
August 18th:
3 O'clock: A Happy Hour has been planned at the Omni Hotel. Kristen /
Teddie of the RSTCA message board and CrowePeople has arranged "An early
happy hour at 3:00 on August 18th at the Omni Austin in the hotel bar. Ask
for the 'Crowebar' group.... I have already arranged tables, etc."
Around 5pm line up (or queue) for the concert. Take turns eating dinner in
Stubbs to stay out of the heat.
After concert, get together for further squealing and support and to plan
weekend meetings or meals together. May I suggest Katz's New York Deli? It
is 24 hours and not too far from Stubbs.
August 19th:
Whatever was planned the day before.
Let's do lunch. Hows about The Spaghetti Warehouse? It is downtown and is
good food. Time: TBD (based on how late we were out the night before)
I think it would be fun to meet around 6:30pm. Get a taste of AUSTIN by
heading over to Town Lake (just a hop, skip and jump) to watch THE BATS!
Yes I mean live bats. For those that don't know, the Congress Ave bridge is
home to the largest urban bat colony.... uh, ever, I think. Anyway at
sunset (8:15pm) they all fly out and it is cool as hell to see!
After that... who knows? Dinner, drinks, whatever. I think the general
consensus has been that as cool as Gladiator on IMAX sounds no one really
wants to drive all that way and drive back for almost 2 hours at 1am. But
if I am wrong and that is what y'all want to do, I am up for it, we just
need to plan in advance so we can all buy tix that morning and get good
seats.
