Description:
Lan is a teenage human with a very troubled past.

Lavan Chitward was your ordinary kid with ordinary parents and ordinary friends (except Tuck, his best friend) but for one thing. Lan had found his soul mate.

There are those that would say that some people are born to be with each other. They are two of the same soul, they are their lover's better half, and they know love like no one else. And so it was for Lavan and Kalira. The world was brighter, filled with music, and more beautiful for them. Even though they were young, the loved each other more than anything in the world.

One day Lavan and his beloved Kalira were out on a walk in the hills nearby their village. But then they noticed smoke on the horizon. This was unnerving for the lovers because the smoke rose from the same direction as their village. They ran back to find their home ablaze. Both of them lived closer to the center of town so they ran in. However, Lan's best friend Tuck lived closer to the outskirts and it was he they found first. When Lan saw Tuck's dead body, he cried out with a choked sob and run to it, cradling it in his arms. Nothing had ever been able to hurt Tuck, and now here he was, dead. Lan began crying into Tuck's blood matted hair. Kalira was just as shocked as neither of them had seen a dead body before. She quickly gathered herself and ran to find any that were alive. She saw something move down the street and called out to it. Then she called back to Lan that she had found someone who was alive. But she never finished her sentence. The *twang* of a bow strung and the *thud* of an arrow piercing flesh. Lan looked up just to see the arrow pierce Kalira's chest and hear her say, "I love you..."

After that, Lan's world collapsed. Seeing his village burned, his best friend dead, and his lifebond killed before him was too much. Lan snapped and crumbled into a ball and began crying as he had never cried before. Then some of the bandits who had raided Lan's village came and surrounded him. They began kicking him, yelling at him, throwing stones at him. And then a moment of clarity came to Lan. These were the people, the scum, who had destroyed his village, killed his family, his friends, and now had murdered his true love. They must die. He reached deep inside himself and called on the fire and magic that lies within all of us. He told it to live, to feed off his hate, his sorrow, his pain, and now, the bandits' flesh. Not one of them survived. And when it was all over, Lan fainted into blessed darkness.

He dreamt of his parents, his brothers, his sisters, of Tuck, of Kalira. She told him not to die even though that was what he wanted most in world. But she told him no, that he would go on living. Just because she wasn't there with him was no reason not to live. Besides, he had a new gift to nurture.

When he awoke it was sunrise. He picked himself up and began walking though town. He made it to his home and found his family. He cried for a long time and eventually told himself to move on. He took his father's ring, even though it was supposed to go to the first born in the family. Not that it mattered anymore. He found a dagger that the bandits had over looked. Then he decided he would need a friend. All his other ones were dead and he would need someone to travel with. He then performed the ceremony to summon a familiar. The creature that came was a snow owl that Lan named Kalira in honour of his lost love. And finally just before Lan left, he found Kalira's body and cut some of her hair. He then braided it into a bracelet.

And with that Lan left his village and headed off to a place he had heard off a few times, Garic's City...

He is 6'2" and weighs 171 lbs. He is a good looking guy with brown eyes filled with fire and sorrow. He has medium length auburn/brown/red hair. He usually wears fiery colours that give him plenty of movement.

Personality:
Lan was once an energetic, out-going, gregarious young man. But now he his much more sensitive of himself and others. He has become quite dedicated to his familiar and his magic. He now works at the Last Lich Inn to make some money because the bandits took most of his money and possessions and he needs a place to stay. He sees adventuring as a way to make his magic stronger and find money. And now he has found Ashina. His love for life has been rekindled with his love for her.
