"Dude, you two fight so much, but when you're not mad at each other you're as close as can be, and what did she mean by 'again'?" Brian asked,
"I don't wanna talk about it,"
"Nicky...did you drive her here?" Howie asked
"Yes.....and stop calling me Nicky dammit, I'm 19 years old,"
"Sorry...."
"Um, Nick...how is she gonna get home?" Kristen added,
"I dunno."
"Nick!"
"What?"
"What are you? A mouse or a man?" Kevin questioned,
"Regularly, or when it comes to girls?"
"Nick...."
"Fine, fine, I'm going. See you back at the hotel...." he said, then he added "God willing,"
"That's better" AJ said, Nick got up and left, he passed the Maitre'D as well,
"You too are leaving so soon Monsieur?"
"Oui. Je part." the Maitre'D looked surprised as Nick lunged out the door,
~*Outside*~
"Where the hell is that cab?" I muttered looking at my watch, it had only been two minutes since I called the company, but it felt like more.
"Lilly!" oh great,
"Yes?" I turned around and faced him, "What do you want?"
"I'm sorry for calling you a cow,"
"Gee thanks," I said dryly,
"I didn't mean it," at least he was apologizing,
"I know, I know, its just.....when you do insult me, its not the insult that gets me so mad, its the fact that you say it like you mean it. And I guess I'm sorry too, for you know, making fun of you,"
"Its alright," he grinned, "Besides, I'm used to it."
"But why do you say stuff like you mean it, when you really don't?"
"I dunno, thats just the way I am I guess."
"Alright, I'll try not to be so sensitive, if you try to be more sensitive, deal?"
"Deal," we shook hands, "Now, what say we go back in and finish the dinner we never ordered?"
"Let's go," I giggled while taking his arm. We walked back in the restraunt ignoring the Maitre'Ds shocked expression,
"Look, they're back" Brian whispered to Leighanne
"Aww, look at the two lovebirds whispering sweet nothings to each other!" Nick grinned,
"Good one Frack," AJ laughed. Brian and Leighanne blushed to high heaven. I snickered,
"Serves you right Frick,"
"Are you sure they're not going out?" Jana asked AJ quietly,
"Apparently they used to....but not anymore that I know of," meanwhile,
"Hey Bri, could you do me a favor?"
"Yes Kev?"
"Tell Claudia over here that I wrote 'Back to Your Heart' not Howie" he said,
"In all actuality, Claud, I wrote it," Brian grinned,
"No, I wrote it!" AJ interrupted,
"You guys are all wrong! Me and Leighanne wrote it!"I laughed,
"Yeah, me and Lil, we wrote it for our secret fiancées," she agreed.
"Of course......except no." Nick added, "Actually Claudia, Kevin did write the song,"
"Thank you Nick,"
"With a little Frack magic of course," he smiled, that got a little laughter from the table,
"Oh by the way," Brian started, "We went ahead and ordered for you,"
"Uh oh.... I don't like the sound of that," Nick grinned, "Wait, did you order B-rok, or someone else?"
"I did of course, your my best bud Frack," he smirked evily,
"Oh dear, why do I have a bad feeling about this Mick?"
"Because you should....woh, déja-vous"
"Oh, here comes the waiter," Bri grinned like an idiot, one by one the waiter placed a covered plate in front of us, me and Nick looked at each other,
"One, two, three..." we both lifted up our covers, "What the heck?" there on my plate sat a chicken breast and salad, and on Nick's,
"A steak, cool." he smiled, "Thanks Bri, you had me scared for a minute,"
"Same here, thanks Brian,"
"You're so very welcome," Brian replied, then Leighanne hit him, "But of course it wasn't only me, I was planning on ordering le cheveul or whatever that was-"
"Horse meat?!"
"Uh, yeah...but Leighanne talked me into not doing that,"
"Well then, thank you Leighanne," I said with relief,
"And I second that,"
"You guys are so lucky we were here, other wise you could be eating Mr. Ed right now," AJ laughed,
"Thanks AJ, what're you having? Bessie the cow? Oops, sorry Nick" he pushed his plate away,
"I don't think I'm hungry anymore," At the mention of Bessie I started thinking about Bree, don't ask why
"Hey you guys," I looked around, "You wanna do me a biiiiiiiiiiiiiig favor? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?"
"And whipped cream?"
"Yup."
"And chocolate syrup?" AJ added,
"Yep."
"And strawberry syrup?" Howie grinned,
"Yes."
"And pineapples?" Nick asked, they all looked at him weird, "What?" he asked innocently.
"Yes, pineapples too."
"Okay then, sure, what is it?"
"Can we stop by and see Bree tonight? She's really, really, really bummed that her mom wouldn't let her come tonight, and it was partially my fault for getting her home late and stuff."
"Well...I don't know..." Kevin started, but AJ interrupted him,
"Dude, c'mon, its our last night in West Palm, might as well."
"I like AJ's style of thinking," I grinned,
"I'm in I guess," Nick stated,
"If he's in, I'm in," Brian said,
"If Bri's in, I'm in," Kev agreed,
"If Kev's in, then I guess I'm in," Howie said.
"Woo hoo!" I grinned, "She's gonna be so happy,"
"And surprised," AJ grinned,
"Who's Bree?" Jana asked,
"Oh, she's a friend of mine they met today, she's really nice,"
"Yeah, she's pretty nice," Howie agreed. Just then someone's cell phone rang, we all picked one up,
"Hello? Not mine," Brian said
"Talk to me.....nope, its not mine either," AJ added, and it wasn't mine or Nick's or Howie's either,
"Hello? Yes this is she," it was Leighanne's. "Yes, now? You mean right now? Is it a must? Alright, I understand, okay. I'll try as fast as I can." she hung up,
"You gotta go baby?" Bri asked in a small voice,
"Yeah, I'm so sorry Bri! I know you wanted it to be nice and all, but there's an emergency meeting for the movie, I'm really really really sorry! I'll make it up to you, alright?"
"Mmkay," I felt so bad for the guy, "Call me later, okay?" he called to her as she was on her way out,
"Will do!" she called back,
"I'm sorry Bri,"
"Its alright," he immediately brightened up, "She'll be back eventually,"
"That's the way to think," I smiled,
"Hey Lil," Nick nudged me,
"What?"
"That Jana chick's really cute!" he whispered,
"She's also with AJ, remember? Your friend, your brother, your bandmate, AJ...Bone, Boner, you know?"
"Yes, I know, I know, which makes her off limits to me" he sighed, "Unless...."
"Nick...whatever you're thinking is a bad idea...."
"I was thinkin...if I was to hook AJ up with...." he glanced around the restraunt and his eyes settled on....me.
"No....hell no. I don’t think so...." Nick got up from the table and took my hand,
"Excuse us for a minute,"
"Sure, go ahead," AJ said, he had that glint in his eyes,
"AJ don't look at us like that, you've known us too long for that," Nick replied,
"Yeah, but obviously, we didn't know you two well enough," Brian said, he sounded kinda hurt,
"Look, we'll be right back," he guided me away from the table into an alcove, "Please Lil?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"C'mon, I'm going to see your friend tonight...and remember, you owe me,"
"Not like this, you are not setting AJ up with me. Absolutely not."
"I'll do anything!" he begged, "Please?"
"Nick, you're leaving tomorrow morning, what's gonna happen in," I looked at my watch, "A half an hour? Nothing."
"We'll be back in like three or four weeks, you get to know Jana, tell her what a great guy I am, and I'll talk to AJ."
"No! I don't wanna get hooked up with AJ!"
"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase???" he whined,
"Niiiiiiiiiiiiick!" I whined back,
"I'll do aaaaaanything!"
"Anything?"
"Anything."
"No."
"Uh! Lilly!"
"Uh! Nick!"
"You're mean," he sniffled, he actually sniffled, I knew I was gonna kick my own ass for this but,
"Fine, okay, I'll do it, but this it like fifty million times more than going to see a friend!"
"Woo hoo!" Nick grinned,
"Don't you even feel the least bit bad that you're trying to steal AJ's potential girl friend away from him?"
"Did you have to go and say that?" he grimaced,
"Yes, I did. I would feel horrible knowing that I was about to take the one person that could make him get over Amanda."
"Don't start, just let me try...if it doesn't work out, we'll pretend like it never happened, okay?"
"No, its not okay....this isn't right Nick....its so....mean. And plus, even if this thing doesn't work out, knowing you....AJ's gonna walk away thinking I have a huge crush on him!"
"Who's to say you don't?" he said cheekily,
"Oh shut up."
"Seriously though, lets just try, alright?"
"I know I'm gonna regret this...but fine." we walked back to the table just as Brian was finishing a joke,
"And then the fish says 'but I don't wanna buy a gill!'" the table erupted into laughter, Nick immediately glanced over at Jana who was giggling like a little school girl, he leaned over to me,
"She's so cute!"
"Nick, shut up before AJ hears you," I hissed,
"Sorry..." we both sat down, Brian looked over at us,
"Well, thank you for joining us guys.....I mean, I understand how important your little session must've been." what was up with him?
"Um, yeah....Brian, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." he snapped, I'd never seen him so agitated, he went from being nice and happy to being mean and sullen, and the worst thing was, it was only to me and Nick. Nick apparently decided to take his word for it 'cause after that he paid no more attention to it, he was too busy talking to Jana,
"So, Jana, how long have you been in West Palm?" he asked,
"For about 3-4 years, I moved in with my friends down here when I was 15."
"Really? Wow, must've been alot to handle,"
"I think you've handled more" she grinned.
"Hey, it comes with the territory," he laughed, they continued talking like that for the rest of dinner. While Nick was busy flirting, I tried to talk with Brian,
"So, Bri.....we haven't really gotten a chance to talk these past couple days, huh?"
"No. We haven't." he said it with disdain, I took that to mean that he was mad 'cause we didn't talk,
"Well then, what've you been up to for the past two years?"
"Lots."
"Okay......" I looked around the table, Nick was talking to Jana. Howie, AJ, and Kristen were having some sort of heated debate, and Kevin and Claudia were discussing how the tour had gone, so I tried again, "How did you and Leighanne meet?"
"On a video shoot."
"Which one?"
"As Long As You Love Me."
"Cool, how did you hook up?"
"Well, I liked her, she liked me and the rest is history."
"You just knew, just like that?"
"Yes."
"That's good."
"I guess."
"Brian?"
"What?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
"What's up?"
"Huh?"
"What's up, why are you acting like this all of a sudden.....you were fine and then outta no where you started getting....well....bitchy." Instead of answering me, he asked me a question in return,
"Would you consider us friends?"
"Of course!"
"Good friends?"
"Definitely!" I think I had an idea of where this was going....
"Would you consider me and Nick friends?"
"Hell yeah,"
"How good of friends?"
"Best friends, you guys are Frick n' Frack." I grinned slightly,
"Funny, I always thought we could tell each other everything.....ha." he snorted,
"Brian....it was-"
"Wait, I'm not done. I always thought you two were 'just friends'. I had an inkling that maybe, sometime...." he trailed off, but then started back up again, "You know what?"
"What?"
"I asked Nick about it once, and you know what he said?"
"No,"
"He said that it had never happened and never would in a million years. He didn't feel as though he could tell me.....he lied to me."
"Bri..."
"He never lies to me....ever, and he did.....so did you in a way."
"Look, Brian, I can't explain this here, its not that big of a deal, don't worry about it."
"It is a big deal to me,"
"Why?"
"Because I trusted you, and I thought you trusted me."
"Bri, we do! Really. But right now isn't the time to talk about it, okay?"
"Fine, but we are talking about it later, especially when we have Nick's attention," I looked over to what he was talking about. Nick was still talking to Jana, I overheard snippets of their conversation,
"How long have you known her?"
"About 6, almost seven, years."
"That's a long time, so what are you, like best friends?"
"If not best, then really really good friends"
"Just friends?"
"Yeah, that's it." I quit listening then,
"I see what you're talking about, he's a little...well...busy." I grinned,
"Yeah, I know."
"Brian....don't be mad! Please?"
"I'm not mad."
"Are too,"
"Are not."
"Are too,"
"I'm not mad, just a little hurt, *sniff*" he laughed,
"That's better,"
"Lilly," Kevin said,
"Yeah Kev?"
"Let me ask you something,"
"What?"
"When do you turn 18?"
"You forgot my birthday? You, Kevin...I'm so hurt...." I pretended to be hurt, Kevin got alarmed,
"No! I was just...well....it slipped my mind...I'm sorry Lilly!"
"Kev, calm down, I was just joking," I laughed, "In April, why?"
"Yup, April 27th!" Nick jumped in, I knew he knew it....even though we didn't talk much after I moved, I still got a birthday card from him every year, and I sent him one even though mine may not have reached him till months afterwards,
"Nick...you actually remembered someone's birthday?" Howie pretended to be shocked,
"D, remember who forgot my birthday on live television? Oh yeah...I think it was...you!"
"It was an accident! I'm sorry!"
"I know, I know, I'm just messing with ya" he grinned,
"Kevin...why'd you wanna know?"
"Just wondering if we'd be in town by then,"
"Aw, how sweet," AJ grinned,
"I know I am," Nick grinned. I bit my tongue so that I wouldn't say something mean because of the talk me and Nick had just had,
"Of course you are," Jana agreed, luckily, AJ took no notice. I hoped Nick would at least have the decency to wait until they left before he said something to AJ. Then, I looked down at Nick's plate,
"Nick!"
"What?"
"You haven't eaten anything!"
"I know, I know...."
"Eat! I understand you've got to keep your boyish figure.....but, still....."
"Fine, fine I'll eat, I'll eat......its kinda hard after your little 'bessie' comment."
"Oops, sorry 'bout that," I giggled,
"Okay then.....what're you eating? Um...that chicken guy on Looney Toons?"
"What? He's a rooster,"
"Shut up," he whined,
"Sorry Nick, you gotta learn your looney toons"
"Why don't you eat then?" he said changing the subject,
"I did...."
"No, here," he cut off a piece of his steak and dropped it in my plate,
"Nick!"
"What?"
"I don't eat red meat, ew" I shivered
"I can see why.....this is what a man eats," he grinned and took a big bite,
"A blood thirsty one," Kristen muttered,
"Excuse me? Did you say something Kristen?" AJ asked,
"Yes, she said a blood thirsty one," Claudia replied for her,
"No, real men eat steak," Brian joined in, "Right Kev?"
"Not necessarily....." he started, but Nick cut him off,
"What he means is yes, steak is a man's meat,"
"Nick, you're gonna make me sick," I began,
"Hold that thought," he turned to Jana, "What do you think?"
"I agree with the girls on this one," she said,
"Good girl!" Kristen exclaimed, "That's what we like to hear,"
"And if the rest of the guys know whats good for them, they'll agree too," Claudia looked around with an reapproving look,
"Well what do ya know, I've had a change of heart, steak is bad for you Nick, you should know that." Howie said.
"Yeah Nick, how could you?" AJ put in,
"Nick, I'm so ashamed," Brian shook his head,
"Bri...Leighanne's not here...."
"Yeah, but she and Kristen are tight," He smiled,
"Nick, you might as well give up, I'm right, you're wrong!" I grinned,
"Never!" he exclaimed, "I don't know 'bout the rest of you wooses" he said the word looking at the guys, "But I'll stick by my word,"
"Admit it Nick, you're wrong!" I was savoring my on coming victory,
"I'm right."
"Wrong."
"Right."

"Wrong....wait I mean...dammit." he grinned, "Okay, okay, you got me,"
"Ha ha ha ha, see what watching Looney Toons does for you?"
"You win," he raised his hands in a sign of defeat, "But not without...."
"Without what?"
"This!" He took his big ole' hand and put it on my head....and rubbed it so that my hair was all messed up!
"Oh no you didn't," I grinned,
"But I did."
"Here it comes," Brian stated,
"What comes?" Jana asked,
"You'll see," AJ told her, "They used to do this when they were younger......they've grown up....but their maturity level hasn't."
"I think its adorable," she grinned, "Friends like that, its sweet."
"Friends is right.....I wonder....nah....never mind."
"What?"
"Nothin, forget it....so, what're we gonna do after I leave?"
"What do you wanna do?"
"I don't know, I just know I really like ya,"
"I like you too," she smiled, he leaned down and gave her a kiss,
"OOOH, LOOKIT THE TWO LOVEBIRDS NOW!" Brian exclaimed loudly, everyone else giggled and went,
"Awwwww, how cute." I did too until I saw Nick's face, he looked heartbroken!! AJ looked up and grinned, Jana looked up and blushed ferociously,
"Nick, you wanna go?" I asked, "You guys, maybe we'll go to Bree's early, you can join us there.....Jana you can come too, alright?"
"Alright," she agreed still blushing,
"I'll see you guys later." Nick said and got up and left, I got up hurriedly,
"Sorry, I guess he really wants to go and see her or something," I explained in a rush, "I had a great time, I'll see you guys there, and Jana it was nice meeting you." Then I chased after Nick, by the time I reached the car he was already sitting behind the driver's wheel with a pissed/sad look on his face, "Nick.." I said timidly,
"What?" he answered through pursed lips,
"Maybe I should drive..."
"I can drive."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." he started the car and we started off, he was driving really fast,
"Nick, maybe you should slow down..."
"Do you have a problem with the way I drive?"
"Right now, yes."
"Well then there's another thing I should listen to you about."
"Look, I'm sorry about Jana, she likes AJ, you need to understand that."
"I know, but he hardly talked to her during dinner, she's really cool....I like her more!"
"How do you know?"
"Because I do!"
"Look, I'll help you out with her, but I still don't agree with it. You still have time though, you guys are leaving tomorrow, I doubt she and AJ will spend the night together,"
"I don't know....it is AJ...." Nick started,
"Nick! Remember, virgin ears! Virgin ears!" I yelped covering my ears up, that made him laugh,
"Okay okay, thanks Lil."
"Anytime," I grinned.
"Um, Lilly,"
"What?"
"I don't know how to get there...."
"Then where are we going?!"
"I have no idea...."
"Nick....." I sighed, then laughed, "This reminds me of that time we went to Disney Land together and got lost on the way back! Remember?"
"Yeah! And you were totally freaking out!!! You were like 'Oh my God, my mom's gonna kill me!' and you were repeating that over and over and over again!"
"I did not! You were like crying you were so scared!"
"Was not! and you were too!"
"Nuh uh!" I giggled,
"Hey, you remember how they found us?"
"Yup, how could I forget," I smiled,
"I didn't ever forget, I don't think I could even if I tried."
"Same here," I remembered perfectly, I'm surprised no one found out about us after that. Nick's cell phone had died out, otherwise we would've called our parents, but he forgot to charge it the day before. Then, on top of that we ran out of gas (this was before Nick had his beautiful Prowler) and we got stuck on the side of an extremely deserted road at about 1 o'clock in the morning.....sounds romantic, right? Well, not when you have a 15 year old girl and a 17 year old boy who are both scared shitless that everyone'll find out, and that their parents will kill them for going to Disney without telling them. So, eventually, we got tired of waiting for a car to go by and help us, so we got into the back of his car and laid down. Luckily he had a blanket, so we just went right to sleep. The next morning Nick shook me awake because he heard a tapping, there was an officer knocking on the window looking at us weird, Nick rolled the window down, and the officer started asking us all sorts of questions, how old we were, what were we doing, did our parents know where we were? We explained to him what happened, leaving out the part about our parents not knowing and he helped us out, when we did get back, our parents freaked, Nick was grounded for a month, I was grounded for a month and a half (my parents are stricter than his). Neither one of them ever found out where we went though, because we never told. My mom never did get over that.
"Lilly!"
"Huh? What?" I shook my head,
"What were you thinking?"
"Nothing Nick, oh, take a left turn here!" I said suddenly,
"What? AH!" he turned really quickly. About two minutes later found us sitting in front of Bree's house,
"Wait here," I said. I got out and ran to the door. I rang the doorbell, Bree came and opened it,
"Hey....what're you doing here?"
"Bringing you some leftovers since you couldn't come, get the kitchen ready, I'll go get 'em."
"Um...alright," she walked to the kitchen saying to herself how insane I was, I went back to the car,
"Okay, come on,"
"Coming," he got out and locked the doors, then he followed me inside, I shut the door and walked into the kitchen, Nick trailing behind me all the while,
"Here's the leftovers," I grinned,
"Leftovers?!" Nick exclaimed,
"What the-Holy shit! You're here.....in my....oh Lord...uh...."
"Exactly what did you mean by leftovers?"
"Nick, remember the little 'AJ's early birthday present'?"
"Oh yeah,"
"What's....how....when...." Bree stammered,
"Hey Bree," he said,
"H-h-hey,"
"What's up?" he asked while simultaneously jumping on the couch,
"Nothing...what are you doing here?"
"Lil had this idea, that since she couldn't bring you to the party, she'd bring the part-ay to you," he smiled
"Oh wow, thank you!" she gushed at me, then she looked down, "Oh my God..."
"What?" I asked,
"I'm in my pajamas!" and with that she raced to her room,
"What was that all about? I've seen plenty of girls in their pajamas..." Nick started, then he realized what he said, "What I mean was, that-I well, um, I..."
"Nick, give up, you can't fix it," I laughed,
"Well, okay, so I haven't seen plenty, I've seen you! And fans who come to concerts in them"
"Yeah, I know, I know, oh yeah!" I said,
"What?"
"I forgot to give you back your cute little horsey boxers!"
"Shut up! What if someone hears you?"
"Then they hear me!" just then the phone rang,
"HEY, LIL! CAN YOU GET THAT?" Bree yelled from her room,
"Sure," I walked over and got the phone,
"Hello?"
"Hi, Lilly?"
"Yeah Kat?"
"Brian Littrell just called! He says he wants you to call him back, oh my GOD! You didn't tell me you knew all of them!"
"Yes I did, and I'll call you back, 'later" I hung up and dialed Bri's cell phone number,
"Hello?"
"Hey Bri, my sister just called and was freaking out on me, you need directions?"
"Yep, hey you're lucky it wasn't your mom," He laughed,
"Ha ha, here," I told him all the directions and he said they'd be there in about 20 minutes or so,
"Thanks Lil, we'll all see you two in a few,"
"Alritey, bye Bri,
"Bye, and we're still gonna have that talk."
"Okay, okay, 'later Rok." I hung up and walked over to Nick, "They'll be here in like twenty minutes,"
"Aiight, hey, don't you have school tomorrow?" he snickered,
"No, I don't actually, its a day off," I grinned,
"Alright, cool, you wanna stay at the hotel again?" Just then Bree came back in (not in her pajamas)
"You're staying at their hotel again???" she asked,
"I don't know....maybe," I said,
"What do you mean by maybe? Ofcourse she's staying again," Nick answered for me,
*Ring*
I picked up my cell phone, this time I knew it was mine,
"Hello?"
"Hi,"
"Who is this?"
"Lilly...its me,"
"Me who?"
"Me as in Scott,"
"Scott?!" I turned around and walked away from Nick and Bree.
"Who's Scott?" Nick asked her,
"Old boyfriend,"
"What?"
"Scott is her old boyfriend, they broke up about a week and a half ago,"
"How long did she go out with him?"
"I don't know....a long time, I think almost two years,"
"What?"
"Well, yeah, she got here sophomore year,"
"Yes I know,"
"And she met him not too long after that, and they hooked up sometime during her junior year,"
"Oh," his eyes traveled over to me,
"That's why you called?"
"No,"
"Then why Scott, could you please tell me?"
"Because, I well, I still like you, and I was wondering if we could try again,"
"Scott," I started,
"Wait, wait, really, we were together for almost two years! That's gotta be the longest relationship you've been in!"
"Nope,"
"How much longer then?"
"Over two years, two years and four and a half months."
"Okay, so its not the longest, but what we had was perfect!"
"Scott, I don't know,"
"Okay, I'll tell you what, think about it, and call me back, okay?"
"Alright, bye" I said,
"Bye, and love you," I hung up, dammit, stupid men, always creating raucous, I walked back over to Bree and Nick who were engrossed in conversation, the stopped talking as soon as I got there......they were acting very suspicious.
"What were you talking about?"
"Oh, nothing." Nick said quickly...too quickly,
"Bree.."
"Yeah?" she bursted,
"What did you tell him?"
"About Scott,"
"Oh,"
"What'd he want anyways?"
"I'll tell you later," I said,
"Oh, so you think that you can't say it in front of me? Is that what it is?" Nick jumped in,
"You really care?"
"Yes, I care"
"No, I don't think you do,"
"No, trust me, do you want me to call him back?"
"No! Fine, I'll say it now, he wants to get back together,"
"What?!" Bree exclaimed,
"Yup, he does,"
"Are you going to?" Nick asked, just then the doorbell rang,
"I'll get it," I grinned and ran to the door, ofcourse it was the guys,
"Who would be coming now?" Bree asked, Nick just shrugged his shoulders. I came back,
"Oh look, its the Backstreet Boys," I grinned,
"THEY'RE ALL FRIGGIN HERE! AHHHHHH!" she screamed, then she noticed Claudia, Kristen, and Jana, "Who're you?"
"That's Claudia (she's with Howie), there's Jana (she's here with AJ)," right then I gave Nick a meaningful look, "and there's Kristen (Kevin's significant other)"
"And we've met already," Brian grinned, "Unfortunately, we can't stay long, we only have about ten minutes because we're leaving early in the morning,"
"Early for you, or early for me?" Bree asked smiling,
"Oh, 8ish, around there,"
"Okay, early for you," I answered grinning,
"You know Lil, that's really funny, 'cause since its so late for you, you won't mind that I've already arranged for you to stay another night with us," Brian said,
"Oh the fun,"
"You're staying with them again???" Bree asked unbelievingly,
"I don't know, maybe, maybe not."
"She is." Kristen replied for me,
"Oh really? Who's to say?"
"I am," Nick said, "Because I'm your ride,"
"Besides, we need to talk..." Brian said pointedly,
"And I'm staying too!" Jana added, "You can room with me!"
"I think she'll do the same thing she did last time," AJ cut in,
"Which was?"
"Bunked with Nick!" Bree grinned knowingly,
"Shut up Bree."
"Alright, if I must, though you know how hard it is for me to shut up because I just don't know how and-"
"Bree!" well, at least she was getting comfortable around them,
"Don't tell her to be quiet," Kevin laughed,
"Yeah, Kev knows how it feels," Nick grinned,
"So do you Nick, so do you." he shot back laughing.
"Yeah, bite me."
"Tch tch tch, such language," Claud reprimanded playfully,
"So, Bree, shall we move to a more comfortable setting?" AJ asked,
"Sure, how about your room?" Howie put in.
"Um, no, its such a mess and all, I don't think now's a good time," she stuttered,
"No, we don't mind, c'mon, I've known Nick and AJ for a good 7 years now, I don't think it could get messier than that," he grinned,
"No, really, now's not a good time," I knew why, her room was a Backstreet Shrine. If they were at my house and my room was like her's, I wouldn't want them to see it either,
"Yeah guys, lets stay here," I added. Bree looked at me appreciatively.
"Hey guys, its time to go," Brian said, "So we can't see this younguns room anyways" he said in his famous old man's voice.
"You have to go already?" she asked,
"Yep, sorry Bree, it was really cool meeting ya though," Nick said sweetly.
"I second that," Brian added,
"Me too,"
"Me three," AJ said,
"It was a pleasure Bree," Howie said,
"Thank you all, you guys are so sweet, I'm really glad Lilly told me," she grinned at me,
"Gee Nick, I think it all worked out fine, don't you?" I said,
"Shut up." I just laughed,
"Well Bree, I'll probably see you at school, alright?"
"Alright, see ya later, I can't believe I can't tell people about this!"
"Hey, I kept it a secret for," I counted in my head, "Seven years, you can too,"
"I know, I know."
"Guys, we really gotta go," AJ said,
"It was nice meeting you Bree," Jana said,
"Yeah, it was." Claudia agreed,
"Definitely so." Kristen added. We left then, I promised to call her and tell her about Scott before we left though. We all walked outside and got in the cars, Nick started it up.
"So, what are we-" I started, but he cut me off,
"She's spending the night at the hotel! What am I supposed to do?!"
"I don't know...."
"Are you going to bunk with her?"
"I don't know Nick,"
"Why not?!" he whined,
"'Cause, apparently Bri already made the sleeping arrangements and from what I understand she and AJ will be in the same room." that was definitely the wrong thing to say, I realized this after I said it, "I mean, well, she seems like a really nice girl and I doubt anything will happen."
"Yeah, sure. It's AJ."
"Look, do you want me to room with her?" I said hoping he'd say no, 'cause I really didn't wanna room with a girl I barely knew on Nick's last night in town.
"Yes...well...no, I don't know."
"We'll see what happens okay?"
"Alright," he said dejectedly,
"Oh yeah, Brian wants to talk to us,"
"About?"
"The scene in the restaurant and the little 'I'd never go out with you again' speech."
"Uh oh..."
"Yep,"
"Is it true though?"
"What?"
"That you'd never go out with me again?"
"Well, I don't, you're like a really good friend...and, well.."
"You just don't think of me like that." he finished grinning,
"Yeah, that's it," I laughed,
"But about Brian, what's wrong?"
"He can't figure out why you or I didn't tell him, since you're like his best friend, and I'm pretty close to him."
"Ooh, I get it."
"Yeah..." by then we were almost to the hotel. Nothing more was said in the conversation so I reached out and turned the radio on, that song 'We Can't Be Friends (I'm Still In Love With You)' came on,
"God I hate this song," we said simultaneously, and then laughed. What followed that was yet again silence, midway through the song, Nick suddenly started up again,
"So how about the-well, yeah, and that one- oh look here we are." he parked the car and we both got out, this time we could go in the side entrance, the rest of the guys were already there. We got in the service elevator and went up to the thirteenth floor,
"Hey, weren't you on the tenth floor last time?"
"Yeah, but if we're here for longer than two days, we switch rooms."
"Oooh, cool."
"No, more like smart."
"Yeah, I guess." we walked out of the elevator and went to Nick's room, this time he had the right room number and we actually got in on the first try.
"Yo, I'm gonna call Brian and tell him we're in, aiight?"
"Go ahead," he walked over to the phone and punched in some numbers,
"Hey, Bri? Yeah, its Nick. We're here, just callin to let you know." he said a little more than hung up and turned to me, "He'll be here in 5...4...3...2..."
*Knock, knock*
"Wow, you guys really do spend too much time together."
"Shut up and let him in" I just looked at him,
"Excuse me?"
"Fine, please shut up and let him in."
"That's a little better." I opened the door, "Hey Brian."
"Hey Lil, Nick." he replied. "How about we sit down on the couches?"
"Um, okay....." we went over to the two couches and had a seat, me and Nick on one couch and Brian on the other. I don't know about Nick, but I felt like an extremely little kid. "So, what'd you wanna talk about Bri?" Nick asked even though he and I both knew very well what Brian wanted to talk about.
"About this going out thing, what's up with that?"
"It was a long time ago....."
"Yeah, like two and half years ago!"
"That's not that long ago.....what was up with not telling me though?" he asked,
"We didn't tell anyone...not one person knew about it. Not one."
"Wow....what else didn't you tell me?"
"Well...you remember that time when I was grounded for a month?"
"Yeah, wasn't that for like tying aaron to the diving board or something?" I looked at Nick..
"What?" but he ignored me,
"That's not what happened..."
"Nick...what happened really?"
"Well, see, we went to Disney together and well, stuff happened.."
"YOU LOST YOUR VIRGINITY TO LILLY?!!!??!!!" He screamed, AJ and Kevin came running in,
"What?!"
"Nick! I never knew....and Lilly," AJ grinned, he came over and put his arm around me,
"Uh, AJ...no, Brian was jumping to conclusions." I said while removing AJ's arm from around my shoulders,
"Yeah, nothing like that ever happened between us dumbass, we were too young for that." Nick added.
"And quite frankly, I really don't think that now is such a good time to talk about it." I said looking directly at AJ and Kevin. They got the hint,
"Understood, we'll be leaving now..." Kevin said sheepishly,
"Yeah, we'll see y'all laterz." AJ said grandly, and they both left the room with out a fuss.
"Sorry about that, you know me, always jumping to conclusions." Brian half grinned,
"I can't believe you even thought that!" Nick exclaimed, "Do you think she's a slut?!"
"No! I just-you said 'stuff'! What was I supposed to think?! You didn't tell me anything else! Why would you tell me that?!"
"Because you're my best friend!"
"I thought I was."
"You are!"
"Sure about that?"
"Yes dammit, I'm sure. Now ask your stupid questions."
"Fine, I will."
"Okay, when did it happen?"
"At that one party Jive held for us back in '95"
"You guys went out for two years with out telling anyone?!"
"Yeah...."
"Wait a minute...the one they held in like May?"
"Yep, that's the one."
"Oh my God...."
"What?"
"Nothing....anyways....your parents didn't even know?"
"Nope, my mom still doesn't know that I know you guys," I jumped in.
"I know....but...then....why didn't you tell us after your broke up?"
"We didn't feel the need to."
"Why?"
"We just didn't....besides, its not like we talked all that often after '97, I didn't have the time, and she never knew where I was."
"That's true." I pointed out.
"So what if its true, remember the time I asked you Nick? I asked if you and Lilly were going out and you said there was no way you would ever do that 'cause it would ruin your friendship."
"Oh yeah," he grimaced, "I forgot about that."
"Yeah, 'cause you lied to me! Not even sneaking, you straight out lied to my face."
"I had to! We agreed not to tell anyone! Why are you so caught up on this?"
"Because, I thought you told me everything! Remember, you're my little brother!"
"I know I am, and I'm sorry."
"So am I Bri." I said even though I knew this was not about me anymore.
"You never told me what happened in Disney."
"Nothing happened in Disney, what happened was outside of Disney. We got lost and I ran out of gas and we stayed there all night."
"That's why you were grounded for a month!"
"Yeah..."
"Didn't your parents find out then?"
"Nope, we didn't tell 'em." I said, Brian turned to me as if he was noticing I was there for the first time,
"Oh, what about you?"
"Remember, I was grounded for like a month and a half."
"Oh, sucks."
"Yup."
"Okay, is there anything you want to-" Nick got cut off by a knock on the door,
"I'll get it," I jumped up thankfully. I opened the door, and there stood Jana.
"Hey,"
"Hi," I replied trying not to let my surprise show, "What's up?"
"Can I come in?"
"Um, how about we talk out here?" I manuevered my way out the door and shut it behind me,
"AJ wants me to stay in his room."
"Uh huh?"
"And I think he wants to well...you know."
"Yeah," I should've known this would happen, stupid AJ.
"I don't want to."
"Tell him that, I'm sure he'll be every bit the gentleman and let you have your way."
"Really?"
"Definitely!"
"Oh wow, you seem to be used to it." she grinned,
"No no no, I have never and never will be linked to any of these guys romantically."
"Not even Nick?" she asked, I thought it sounded kinda hopeful.
"Not even Nick...." I said regretfully. He had better not go for it tonight, "But, if you don't mind, I'm really tired, I think I'm gonna go ahead and get some sleep. I'll talk to ya tomorrow, okay? Don't worry about a thing,"
"Alright, thanks for reassuring me. And goodnight, tell Nick I said goodnight too."
"Will do, 'night." with that I went back inside. Brian and Nick were still talking when I came back in, they stopped as soon as I got within earshot. "Okay, what is it this time?"
"Nothing," Nick said uncomfortably.
"Um....okay..."
"Who was at the door?"
"Oh, Jana." I swear, his ears actually perked up!
"Oh really?"
"Yes, she just wanted to talk to me about something."
"What?"
"None of your business. You two can get back to what you were saying now."
"No, I was just leaving, goodnight Llynia. Later Nick." Brian said,
"Um, g'nite Bri..." I said unsurely, but he was out the door before I could say more. "What was that all about?"
"'None of your business'." I hated it when he turns what I said around!
"I hate it when you do that." I muttered,
"I know," he grinned. I let out an aggravated humph, "That's what I was waiting for," He said with a satisfied smirk.
"You suck."
"Didn't we go over this last time?"
"You really really suck."
"Hey, what're you gonna do about...what-his-face?"
"You mean Scott?"
"Yeah, him!"
"Uh...I dunno, call him back I guess."
"Why? We're hooking you up with AJ! Remember?"
"NO, You're telling AJ I like him, nothing more."
"Fine, when he pursues you....I'll just go over to Jana and do my thing,"
"Your thing?"
"Yes, my thing. The thing that gets all those fly hunnies goin'" he did this little grin/nod thing then,
"You are such a nerd!" I laughed,
“What?"
"God, 'fly hunnies'?!" I started laughing hysterically, "Are you gonna show her your ride, and then your dope pad too?" I managed to gasp out,
"Shut up." he said curtly,
"I will not...who have you been taking speech lessons from? Justin Timberlake? No wonder the Kevin doesn't like to let you talk at Award shows and such."
"You love making me look like a dumbass, don't you?"
"Nothing more so than that my dear Watson."
"What?"
"Never mind," Intelligence is always lost on souls such as Nick.
"You are so annoying,"
"Not as much as you."
"Well...."
"Ha! You admit it!" I jumped on the bed,
"Did not!" he pulled the end of the covers of the bed and I fell flat on my ass,
"Ha ha! Somebody's not very graceful."
"Yeah, well, graceful this." I merely chose a finger and stuck it up at him,
"Why Lilly, tch tch tch, aren't we corrupted?" I got up while rubbing my hurting backside,
"I despise you."
"No, you don't." he and that irritating grin of his!
"Yes, I think I do."
"Aw, Lil," he said placing his hands on his heart, "I'm hurt."
"Well, you deserve it, and for that, I get the bed," I laughed.
"Alright, but not because you're right, only because I'm a nice guy."
"Uh huh....sure, and the fact that I could kick your ass any day of the week."
"I don't think so, I'm not a skinny, five and a half feet tall geek anymore."
"No, you're a 6 foot 2 geek now."
"And you're only 5'4...hm...the sheer machanics of it are in my favor."
"Yeah, when you take away intelligence, integrity, pride, oh yeah, and wittiness."
"Oh, we'll see about that," he lunged at me,
"AHHHHHH!" I screeched and ran the other way, despite what I was saying, he was bigger than me. He chased after me, my smallness was an asset, he couldn't catch me. "Run, run, fast as you can, no one can catch me, I'm...well, I'm Lilly!" I laughed. "Even in a skirt! Nick I'm ashamed!" All of a sudden something tugged at my shirt, "Crap," the end of my shirt was caught on the corner of a table, Nick didn't stop. "Nick what're yo doi-" he bounded into me,
"Ouch!" we both toppled in a heap to the ground, laughing and explaining all the while. Just then the door opened,
"Hey guys," It was Brian again, he stopped short when he saw us, "Uh....okay...." we untangled ourselves, I stood up and smoothed my skirt,
"Hey Brian, what's up?"
"Just stopping by to uh....what were you guys doing?" he asked,
"Just messin around."
"Messing around?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Brian...we already told you....we are just friends! Nothing more!" he muttered something under his breath, "What'd you say?"
"Nothing...well, I was just stopping by to really say goodnight."
"Alritey, g'nite Bri," I said,
"Yep, 'nite Rok." he left right after he gave us one more knowing look. We went back to the bed and sat down panting,
"Okay, its official, girls can run." Nick half grinned,
"Yeah, you wouldn't have caught me if I was wearing shorts!"
"It was inevitable, Lil." he laughed,
"I doubt it...hey, I gotta borrow something to sleep in again,"
"I'm not getting it back, am I?"
"Probably not...."
"Okay, okay" he got up and rummaged through his suitcase. I leaned back on the pillows and looked around, all of a sudden something hit me in the face,
"Nick!"
"Sorry, you should've been paying attention." I looked at what he had given me, a big plain white shirt and a pair of really really really ugly boxers. They were like purple and green and yellow and red swirls.
"I'm supposed to wear these?" I held up them up with two fingers,
"Yes! You're very lucky, those are my favorite boxers, but they're the last clean ones,"
"What about tomorrow? Please tell me you change your underwear."
"Yes I change my underwear!"
"Then what're you doing about tomorrow?"
"I wear briefs usually, and I sleep in boxers."
"Ahh, so you're a hanes his way kinda boy." I grinned,
"Shut up."
"Oh well, alright, I guess I'll go change into these..." I took them up and walked in the bathroom, two minutes later I walked back out.
"Okay, your turn."
"I'm done."
"Okay...so..."
"So..."
"What to do?"
"I don't know, what do you wanna do?"
"I don't know, what do you wanna do?"
"Whatever you wanna do."
"I don't know what I wanna do."
"Okay, lets see....I have a good idea, follow me."
"Okay..."
"Close your eyes!" he put his hands over my eyes,
"What are you doing?"
"You'll see!" I had no idea where we were anymore, "Are you ready for this?"
"I don't know, am I?" all of a sudden he pushed me and I landed in something cold and wet,
"Ha ha! You didn't think I knew who those 'Jojo' calls were coming form huh?"
"NICK! I'm going to kill you!" he had filled his bathtub up with freezing cold water and shoved me in it! "I'm freezing! And my clothes are all wet!"
"Not to mention rather see through as well," he smirked, I looked down. Sure enough, the white shirt he gave me,
"You did that on purpose!" I said crossing my arms and blushing at the same time, "Grr, men." I stalked out of the bathroom straight to his suitcase. I looked through it and found what I needed, a nice, warm, and huge sweat shirt and a pair of what looked like track pants. I walked back into the bathroom, Nick was still standing there,
"What're you doing?"
"Changing, what does it look like I'm doing?"
"Okay, okay..." he left giggling to himself. I slammed the door shut and locked it. I changed out of the boxers (which probably weren't even his favorite) and shirt. I realized that not only were the clothes I had on the outside soaking but inside as well,
"Dammit," I muttered, "Now what am I supposed to do?" I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me. I walked around the bathroom wondering what to do, low and behold I found a phone. "Thank God," I dialed some numbers and waited for someone to pick up,
"Hello?"
"Hi...is this AJ?"
"Yeah...who's this?"
"This is Lilly, lemme talk to Jana."
"Um, okay...hold on." about two seconds later a very sleepy Jana was on the phone,
"Hello?"
"Hey Jana, this is Lilly, can you please do me a big huge favor?"
"Um...what?"
"Could you go down to the gift store and buy me a bikini?"
"What?!"
"Long story, I'll explain it tomorrow. Just please?"
"I guess...got any particular style in mind?"
"No, anything, I don't care if its yellow, blue, green, whatever."
"You know this sounds really, really, really weird to me...."
"Yeah, you'll understand it after I explain though."
"If you say so...what size are you?"
"Just estimate."
"Okay.....it'll probably take about fifteen-twenty minutes."
"Just hurry!" I said urgently.
"I'll try, I'll try." then she hung up.
"What was that all about?" AJ asked her,
"Is Lilly okay in the head?"
"What?"
"Lilly, is there anything wrong with her mentally?"
"No...not that I know of...why?"
"She asked me to go down to the gift store and buy her a bikini."
"Damn, what are she and Nick up to?"
"I have no idea." she got up and started putting her shoes on,
"You're gonna go?"
"Yeah, she sounded like she really needed it."
"Please tell me why when you get back...this sounds like it should be good." he grinned.
"I'll make sure and do that AJ." she laughed while walking out the door.
~*Back in Nick's Room*~
"Lilly! What's takin so long?"
"Nothing Nick, go away."
"Are you okay?" he sounded worried.
"I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Really?" I threw the door open,
"Yes!" he took a step back,
"Why aren't you changed yet?"
"Think about it smart one......I may be able to wear most of your clothes, but there are some pieces of clothing I can't borrow."
"What?"
"God you're stupid!" I slammed the door shut again. Nick walked away from the door,
"I wonder what that was all about...." then there was a knock, he went and opened up his room door and there stood Jana holding a plastic bag, "Jana?"
"Yes...is Lilly here?"
"Yeah...in the bathroom..."
"Oh right, I forgot, give this to her please, and tell her it was eighteen seventy-five."
"Okay..."
"Thanks, goodnight."
"Wait, don't you wanna come in or anything?" He asked,
"I don't know..."
"Aw come on, just for a little while?"
"Okay, I will." she walked in with the bag in hand. "Where's the bathroom?" he pointed to a door, she knocked on it, "Lilly?"
"Yeah? Jana is that you?"
"Yeah, open up." I opened the door, she seemed a bit surprised at first, then handed me the bag.
"Thank you sooooooo much!!!! I'll be right back." I shut the door again and changed into the bikini followed by the clothes I had taken. I walked out to find Nick and Jana speaking intently. They looked up when I entered the room, "Hey Jana, how much was this?" I asked,
"How much was what?" Nick interrupted,
"It was eighteen seventy-five."
"Wow..." I went over to my purse and pulled out a twenty. "Thank you so much, you have no idea how much you helped me!" she grinned,
"I think I do."
"What'd you help her out with?"
"Nothing Nick." I stifled a yawn.
"Hey, I better get back to my room, AJ's probably wondering why I'm taking so long. G'night guys. And you're welcome Llynia."
"Goodnight, and thanks again!" I said.
"Yeah, 'night....seeya tomorrow morning." Nick added smiling. She left then and went back to her own room. As soon as the door shut behind her Nick started, "She is sooooooooooooooo nice! And so cute, and so perfect!"
"Nick..."
"And I wish I'd met her first!"
"Nick..."
"She's just so...so.."
"NICK!"
"What?"
"Get ready to die."
"Oh yeah....."he jumped up on the bed, I jumped up right after him and grabbed a pillow.
"Take that! And that! And this!" I started hitting him with it.
"PILLOW FIGHT!" he grabbed a pillow too, about ten minutes later, the phone rang. We looked at each other, who would be calling at 2 o'clock in the morning? He picked it up, "Hello?"
"Yes, this is the front desk calling, we've recieved a complaint from another room regarding the noise you are making. We kindly ask you to keep it down."
"Oh, sorry." he said sheepishly, "We'll keep it down." he hung up the phone,
"What was that all about"
"Somebody called and complained about us."
"Oops..." then he realized something,
"Hey, you're wearing my track pants, I was gonna wear those tomorrow."
"Oh well, sucks for you , you shouldn't have pushed me into the water."
"You deserved it!"
"I'm not the only one who made the Jojo calls."
"I know, I'll get Brian back later."
"How?"
"I'm not telling. What did Jana get you."
"Nothing."
"Tell me!"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because."
"What'd she get you??" he whined.
"None of your business."
"We'll see about that."
"Excuse me?"
"Nothing." he got up and walked to the bathroom, "Hey Lilly!"
"What?"
"Nice underwear!" he grinned, he came back out waving my underwear around over his head.
"Give that back!" I said furiously. I jumped up to grab it from Nick, "C'mon!! Give it back!"
"Ooh, interesting, black underwear."
"Please?????"
"You know what I heard? I heard girls don't buy black lingerie unless they want someone to see it."
"GIVE IT BACK!" I jumped up as high as I could but he was still too tall with his 6'2 frame. So I went for the guilt aspect instead. I sat down on the bed sullenly and wouldn't look at him. About five minutes later he gave up.
"Lil?" I didn't answer "Sorry.....sorry...really!"
"Whatever yaar"
"What?"
"My Indian friend taught it to me." I grinned.
“Yeah, okay, whatever you say.”
“Seriously! I didn’t make it up!”
“Sure…so….you and Jana are gonna be best of friends….right?”
“Sure Nick…uh huh.”
“And then you and AJ can get it on!” He laughed.
“I swear I’m gonna smack you.”
“You can even show him your cute undies!” Suddenly his face contorted from a grin to a worried look, “What are you wearing under my clothes?”
“What do you mean?” I asked innocently,
“Your underwear’s in the bathroom, what are you wearing under my clothes?”
“Hmm…think about it Nicky.”
“EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, TAKE OFF MY CLOTHES RIGHT NOW…..no wait… take them off in the bathroom. Man, now I gotta get ‘em dry cleaned!”
“Nick! You prick! I am wearing this!” I pulled up my shirt revealing the (ugly) bikini, he wiped his forehead,
“Whew, you had me scared for a minute.”
“Are you insinuating that I’m dirty?”
“Um…well…no”
“You hesitated Nick, wrong move.”
“What?”
“That’s it, I have to leave now”
“What the heck?”
“Gotta go, later.” I got up and walked out of the room and straight to the elevator. Nick came out after me,
“Where the heck are you going? And with my clothes!”
“Bye Nick.” I waved behind me
“Wait! Wait!” he ran back in, pulled on the first thing he found, his swim trunks and shoes and followed me. I was already in the elevator though. “Where did she go?” He looked up at the numbers and saw the light end on 2 and start coming back up again. “Ahh, the second floor.” He pushed the button and waited for the elevator, after it arrived he walked in, pressed 2 and waited. The door finally opened back up and he walked out, but he saw no trace of me. “Where did she go?” he muttered to himself, then he sniffed something, “And what is that smell?” then he realized what it was and he followed his nose. It led him straight to a door which he threw open, “Ha! Didn’t think I’d find you here, did you?” He looked down at the clearish blue water,
“Well?” I grinned up at him from the pool,
“Hey Nick,”
“Do you know what time it is?”
“Actually… no.”
“Well, I’ll tell you, its four thirty in the morning. I have to be up in three and a half hours traveling back home.”
“Really? How interesting,” I dove back underwater.
”Lilly! Pay attention to me! God friggin stupid… err, she never listens to me, why would she now?” he asked himself exasperatedly, “Dumb girls. Well… if you can’t beat ‘em… “
“JOIN ‘EM!” I yelled out.
“Dude, shut up! Do you want someone to hear us down here?”
“I bet a million dollars you’ve never done this with any of the guys before.”
“No, thank God.” He pulled off his shirt and jumped in after me. I shielded my eyes from the splash,
“And you’re yelling at me for making too much noise.” I grinned,
“Yeah yeah, don’t wanna hear it.” We swam like that for another two and a half hours when I finally got tired of it,
“Alright, this is boring now, I’m getting out.” I got out of the pool and sat on one of the chairs, people were slowly beginning to wander into the pool area. Mainly old people and people who were working out. I lied back on the chair trying to suppress my boredom, I looked over at Nick, “Are you quite finished?”
“No, just five more minutes.” Yeah, times four. Then he finally got out, “Alright, now I’m done.”
“Thank you, lets go back now.” He looked at his watch again,
“Holy crap!”
“What?”
“Its 7:20! Kev’ll be wakin’ me up in ten minutes!”
“Don’t worry about it, we’ll make it.” We walked quickly to the pool door when a girl about my age stopped us,
“Hey are you Nick Carter?”
“No, I get that a lot though… who is that guy? Must be pretty hot.” Nick said hurriedly,
“Oh never mind,” she walked away with a disgusted look on her face. We almost ran to the elevator, which was already there luckily, as soon as we got in I mentioned to Nick that that was a low thing to do,
“Hey! Its either be mean, or face the wrath known as Kevin!” I could see his point. The elevator finally got to his floor and we jumped out ran to his room, and stopped.
“Well, open the door.”
“Uh… I can’t.”
“What do you mean ‘can’t’?”
“I don’t have the key, I ran out after you so fast that I forgot it.” Just then the door opened, there stood Kevin in the door way,
“Hey guys, what’s up?” he asked graciously, he wasn’t happy,
“Hey Kev,” we grinned sheepishly, “We were just uh…comin back from an early morning swim.”
“Yeah… well, see I got this call from the front desk, that there was too much noise coming from this room, and I called to check it out…and no one answered. You know what time it was then?”
“No?” Nick asked softly,
“FIVE O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING! What time did you guys leave?”
“Uh…four-thirty?”
“WHAT?! That’s it… to the couch… now.” We walked over to the couch silently and sat down side by side. Nick let out a small gulp. “What in God’s name could possess you to leave at 4:30 am?!”
“Um… not tired?” I tried,
“WRONG answer. Tell her what she’s lost Bob!”
“Sorry Kev, calm down, its not that big of a deal.”
“I had no idea where you two were! Nick! We have to leave this morning… and Lilly, your safety is entrusted with us. Not with our manager or anything, but with us because you don’t know our manager, you know us.”
“Yes Kevin.” I said meekly.
“And Nick?” he asked sharply,
“Yes Kev.”
“That’s better, now you two may as well get ready because we have to leave soon anyways.” He got up, “I hope you’ve learned your lesson,” with that he walked out the door.
