Donna's Story
Donna died tragically in a fire when she was 9 months old 2 days before Christmas 1982. And I will forever hold myself responsible for that as we were not meant to be at home on this night. I had made arrangments to go and spend Christmas with my family and at the last minute delayed going until the following day. A decision I will now always regret. Now I have to answer the what if's Why did I choose to stay home and not go etc !!! I also have a belief that My daughter was never meant to be here for long there were so many coincidences. She was born on the 23rd of March Christened on the 23 of May and died on the 23rd of December!! She was delivered by a Nurse Crawford The man that saved my life during the fire was called Crawford and the Detective investigating the fire was called Crawford.
Coincidence or Fate ??? I also discovered about 6 weeks later that I was pregnant with another child who turned out to be a girl. But by all accounts I fell pregnant on the same day that Donna died not planned as I actually had been fitted with an IUD which obviously didnt work ....but now I think that there was a much higher force at work .... I guess I will never know.......What I do know is that losing a child to a fire is one of the most horrendous things that can happen because it is preventable if my story makes just one person listen by installing a smoke detector then it has been worthwhile........
Donna would be 18 now a young woman but to me she will always be my angel baby in heaven so deeply missed and forever loved !!!!!!!!!!
