I see her standing there
I see me as a child. . .
I remember feeling loved~
everytime she smiled.
We're bent down in the garden
planting little seeds. . .
I see Nana teaching me
how to only pull the weeds.
I see us at the pond's edge
balanced on some logs. . .
She points to little tadpoles
that one day will be frogs.
I see us hand in hand
dancing down the lane. . .
We're going to get the mail
before it starts to rain.
Nana taught me how to pray
and all about heaven above. . .
And that if I felt afraid,
I should try and feel God's love.
She shared her world with me
Every summer day and night. . .
Through her I learned the most
about knowing wrong from right.
She had so little schooling,
I wonder now that I'm grown. . .
How Nana got to be . . .
the smartest woman I've ever known!
I'll never again in my life
feel so totally safe from harm. . .
As I did when I spent my summers
on Nana's "magical" farm.
