My Memory Scene # 1
Scene set up:
Gillian at Holiday's with Scott when Mr. Pinkerton (immigration officer) shows up.
Mr. Pinkerton
G=Gillian S=Scott P= Mr. Pinkerton R=Ryan K=Kelsey
G: DEPORTATION?? But tha..that can't be. (She stands up in shock to Mr. Pinkerton's threat)
S: You guy's have lost it.
P: This is between Ms. Andrassy and Immigration.
S: Wait you are going to sit here and waste tax payers money by chasing an innocent college student?
P: Ms. Andrassy's case does not concern you.
S: How many thousands for dollars has your agency used to try to spy on us? Huh? What did you have a hotline to the PVU registry office. (he mimicks holding a phone to his ear) Hello, ugh, Ms. Andrassy's GPA at this moment please.
G: Look if you really care to know the facts I?ve been attending all my classes at PVU this semester.
Ryan shows up and stands listening at a distance
P: (sounding irritated) Ms. Andrassy I've spoken to four out of four of your professors and they have all given you incompletes in their courses, you haven't shown up for any of your tests these last four weeks nor have you turned in any of your assigned papers.
G: (calmly she says) I have a learning disability.
P: And what would that be?
G: A.D.D.
P: Have you been to the campus counseling service for help?
G: It was just diagnosed. I'm about to apply for special status.
P: And you do have verification of this diagnosis from your doctor.
G: (She nods yes) not on me.
P: That's all right you can bring it to your hearing.
G: MY WHAT??
P: A special hearing has been scheduled to consider your case. You'll be able to explain all your problems there. (he hands her the documents)
Enter Ryan from behind Mr. Pinkerton
R: You and your department seem to be the only PROBLEM Ms. Andrassy has at the moment. And lets just face it this could be a PR nightmare for you. Hounding a beautiful young helpless woman.
P: Who are you?
R: A tax paying citizen Mr. Pinkerton?your employer. Now, don't you think this misunderstaning could be solved in an unconfrontational manner perhaps in a letter?
P: If you continue to interfere...
R: You'll do what arrest me? That will do wonders for your department on the 5:00 news. Did I mention that I work for WRCW? So maybe we should just take a deep breath and forget you came in here because I'm sure you don't want to ruin this young women's life.
P: This matter is between Ms. Andrassy and Immigration. Interference is considered obstruction of justice.
S: You trying to intimidate us?
P: Call it a friendly warning.
R: Warnning received...now go. (Ryan motions his hands to point Mr. Pinkerton in
the direction of the door)
P: Am I to assume you want to be arrested?
G: Guys! It's ok.
P: Ms. Andrassy can we discuss your situation in private?
Gillian walks with Mr. Pinkerton away to a corner of Holidays. The whole while Kelsey is still watching and listening. Ryan heads to Kelsey. He grabs her and pulls her aside.
R: Why do I get the impression this isn't a surprise to you?
K: What? The feds showing up?
R: You sicked them on her didn't you?
K: Ugh excuse me?
Ryan gives her a look.
K: All right I did.
R: Kelsey that REAKS!! It was a dumb idea.
K: Well you told me to do it, remember? Anything's possible don't let up on your dreams, all is fair in love and war.
R: Yeah well not EVERYTHING is fair.
K: Oh really? Why do the rules change Ryan? Are you more attached to the hoochie princess then you're letting on and you're to chicken to admit?
R: You're a prisoner of romance Kelsey. A condition that doesn't EFFECT me.
K: As much is doesn't. You care about the hoochie princess...you care BIG time.
R: Well I'd rather not see her get deported.
K: Well, I wasn't aiming at permanent removal'just a little deglueing so Scott can notice me and give me a chance.
R: What you did wasn't koesher Kelsey.
K: And what she's been doing for months is? You don't fight fire with paper towels.
R: What? Is that supposed to be a funny remark?
K: No. (shamefully speaking) I just did what I had to do.
R: You ever hear of Karma?
K: Yeah what goes around comes around, but I don't think you're going to find me chasing guys in Europe any time soon.
R: Yeah well you never know. Anyway I'd be careful of those smarts of yours they may bumarang you into serving carrot cake at holidays until your...
Ryan leaves Kelsey not finishing his sentence and still a little aggravated. He then heads over to where Gillian and Mr. Pinkerton are conversating. Kelsey is still in the back ground listening.
G: If you people had updated information you'd know I have been studying the constitution and I've been studying the bill of rights in my American history class and those fabulous pieces of paper will support my demand to face my accuser. Now I want to know shat low life spread those horrible lies about me?
P: The immigration department couldn't operate if we revealed our sources.
G: You mean anyone can just make up lies about my life?
P: You were warned months ago that we'd be keeping an eye on you.
G: Oh you mean that ugh escort incident. I was found completely innocent and so was Ms. Jefferson (Kelsey) I might add.
P: Your status in this country is still on shacky ground. You can present your case at the hearing next week. I'd advise you to contact a GOOD immigration attorney.
Mr. Pinkerton leaves and Ryan approaches Gillian.
R: Hey, forget him he's a petty tyrant that gets his kicks pushing around innocent people.
G: Thanks
Gillian goes to Scott and hugs him.
S: Don't worry we'll find a way to fix this ok?
G: Having that awful man just broke into everything I do is demeaning. They could deport me Scott.
S: They're not going to deport you ok? I won't let them.
G: One sweet man could fight that man and his agency? Scott I can't leave you and all my friends I've made here.
K: We'll keep in touch.
G: The worst, the very worst is grandmama. I mean this scandal, another scandal, it could kill her.
S: Gillian come on lets not over react.
G: Scott I would be responsible for her death.
S: Gillian it's not gonna happen. We will find a way out of this ok?
G: Right, you're right. They can't take away my mind.
S: Right. No.
Gillian smiles as if she has an idea.
S: What? You thought of something?
G: Of course.
S: What?
G: This is perfect.
S: What?
G: Marry me.
Scott is shocked not to mention Ryan and Kelsey.
