I finally started physiotherapy for my arm and I am still trying to minimize use of a computer at home. That is one of the reasons for doing two month updates rather than one and also why this is going to be rather short on text.
September and October were months when rested from the rather hectic travel schedule of the previous month. Even so, there was lot to do.

I advanced my Thames journey little bit further upstream. Passed through Henley just a week before te famous regatta preparations were in full swing. The English take rowing very seriously indeed. I saw poppy field bloom and ripen, had couple of days when I ate so many blackberries that the dentine on my teeth started to dissolve (not to mention the heartburn the next day).
I made it as far as Oxford and unfortunately that may be it until next year.
The last four segments are logistically more complicated – there are no train stations and I will have to try to find some kind of local bus service or perhaps do two segment back to back, staying at a bed and breakfast. But weather is beginning to be less reliable and colder and so this may have to wait until the spring of next year.
I made one very short (36 hours) trip to Moscow, would not mind to spend a little bit more time there but do not know if that will be possible. I also went to a 4 day AAPG conference in Prague – very lucky with the weather, little brisk but sunny every day. Finally, I went on a short geological field trip to Cornwall,
where I finally got to use my rubber rain suit – very glad I had it. Must be very nice when it is a little bit warmer, perhaps we will try to organize a family trip next summer.
Of course there is lot to do without leaving London.
The Notting Hill festival was particularly good, even though there was lot less of steel drums and more of ear piercing techno “music” than I would have liked.
