All 66 episodes of "Check It Out" were produced in Toronto as a joint venture between the CTV and USA networks, and were taped in front of a live studio audience. The show ran from1985-1988. In Canada, it was seen on Saturday nights, then switched to Fridays. It aired first-run on both the USA Network and CTV, with reruns sold into syndication in the U.S. in spring of 1986. A few "Check It Out" out-takes made it to "TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes". At the First Annual Gemini Awards (Canada's version of the Emmy's), Don Adams was nominated for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Role in a Comedy Series", and he and Kathleen Laskey appeared as themselves to present a Gemini award to Meagan Follows for her role in "Anne of Green Gables". The following year, a rendition of the "Check It Out" theme song was performed on the Gemini Awards by Andrea Martin and Eugene Levy (of SCTV fame), and Dinah Christie won a Gemini for "Best Performance by a Lead Actress in a Continuing Role in a Comedy Series". |
