Episode Guide | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
UPDATE: March 2009 (gee, only 8 years after my LAST update!) "Check It Out!" reruns aired for several years on TVLand Canada and I intend to update my website this year with detailed episode descriptions of all 66 episodes, including pictures and production notes... that is, as soon as I figure out why I cannot update my website from my computer at home no matter how hard I try (technical issues, grrrr!!!) In the meantime, my apologies for not keeping this site up-to-date, and you can check out this episode guide: http://www.locatetv.com/tv/check-it-out1033612
I used to tape every episode of "Check It Out"when it first aired, but would eventually run out of tape and have to record over them, one by one, deciding which ones I could part with the most! Some of the best episodes were from Season 1, which in my opinion was the strongest season. At the beginning of Season 2, Don Adams grew a moustache, which I thought looked great on him, and he kept it for the rest of the run. Here are descriptions of three episodes I somehow managed to save of "Check It Out". The first two are from Season 1, and the third from Season 2. I don't know the episode titles or sequence numbers, just think of them as samples for now...

"Prom" Episode -- It's Howard and Edna's seven year (dating) anniversary, and Howard sends Alf to pick out a romantic gift for Edna, but much to his dismay, Alf brings back a hamster (something "small, cute, and golden"), which makes Edna scream, and then escapes from the lounge, becoming loose in the supermarket. Murray asks Marlene to the prom, but gets cold feet after he (a virgin) hears of Marlene's reputation with men...

"Construction" Episode -- Major construction work outside the store entrance deters most of Cobb's' regular customers from doing their shopping there, and word comes that Howard must temporarily lay-off two employees. Unable to decide who to lay off, Howard asks to speak to the employees privately, each telling him a different sob-story, which makes his decision even harder. Meanwhile, a major water pipe bursts, causing a flood throughout the store...
