When I was young and quite a bit stupider than I am now, I was asked to take over the teaching of a Sunday School class.

          The class turned out to be made up of seven school first graders. Two of them were cousins, Justin and Taurus, towheaded little boys who, I believe, were sent there to drive me straight up the wall. They were the only boys in the class, but they made up for it by being the most interesting.

          One Sunday I was stressing the fact that God was everywhere, until Taurus said, "I know, I'm sittin' on him!" I chose to let this slip past, and things were pretty quiet until Taurus decided it was time to REALLY shock us.

          "I HATE GOD" was what he threw at us. I heard the little girls gasp in surprise and unbelief, and I said, "Taurus, you don't hate God !"

          After a short silence he spoke. "Well, I don't hate Him, but I don't like him allllll - thattttttt - muchhhhhhh!" which we had to be satisfied with because Taurus didn't seem to be backing down.

          One day the class seemed to be over before the bell rang, so I sat at the piano and punched out a simple song to try and keep them quiet.

          Suddenly I heard, "Tinkle, Tinkle, Tinkle" beside me and discovered that Justin had decided we needed to play a duet. I gave up and let him have the piano. Thank goodness the bell rang in a few minutes and I could escape.

          At Christmas the teachers were all expected to work with their classes to learn and present an offering for the Christmas Eve program. I had selected 2 songs that I believed were manageable for children of this age, but to be sure, I printed the words on large pieces of paper to help them in case they forgot the words.

          Sometime later Justin's mother told me that Justin had said, " She pwinted the words on pieces of paper, and I can't even WEAD"

          Finally the class year began to draw near and I was beginning to relax, knowing that I would have new children coming into my class.

          It wasn't to happen............... it turned out that along with this class, I was also graduated and was to have the same class for another year! ! !
