Resolutions

Now that Thanksgiving and Halloween are history, the next thing confronting us are New Years Resolutions..............a lost cause if there ever was one, as no-one keeps them beyond January 3rd or 4th. But just for the record, I've been kicking around a few old ones and a few new ones and now have a total of 10 of them which I will now begin breaking, listing them in the order, from1 to 10, in which they will be broken.

  1. Stop eating sweets......... I've already broken this one by eating 2 Milky Way candy bars already plus several cookies and a couple of sweet rolls. Maybe I should re-resolute this one, although it's really doubtful if it can be kept more than a day or two because it's the one that's impossible for me to keep very long, which is why it's number 1

  2. Lose some weight........... Well, if i can't keep number 1, how will it be possible to keep number 2? Scratch number 2 then, along with number 1.

  3. Write letters.......... My printer is broken and as I have to write letters by hand and can hardly read my own writing, this one will not last long.

  4. Pick up clutter. I try this one every day of the week, and at days end there is more clutter than there was before.

  5. Make phone calls to friends and relatives........ It used to be simple, just dial the number and let the operator worry about getting me there. Now I use a phone card, first having to dial an 800 number (11 digits) then the pin number (another 11 digits) then the number I'm calling, (usually another 11 digits). By this time I've forgotten who I was calling, or remembering that, forgotten why I was calling him/her.

  6. Study my German. This is one of the things "they" suggest to keep your brain in operation. Have yet to see that this is helping me.

  7. Practice piano lessons.............. I gave this up after Pretty Boy came to live with me because every time I sat down to play, he leaped up on the keyboard and played a song of his own, a song which I have never heard before or since. It wasn't worth the challenge of trying to get him off the piano keys and I soon gave it up, but as he has gotten a little more mature, he has given up piano playing for eating and sleeping.

  8. Weed flower bed............... This one stands a pretty good chance of getting done because it's only for a few months during summer.

  9. Read............. This is quite easy because I do love to read. But when I can't remain sitting I'm forced to walk about the house while reading a book, not the easiest thing to do. But I'm making progress, and am even reading entire books now.

  10. Exercise............. This one I can do on my exercise bike, but I used to go one mile, then took off for a few weeks and when I started again could only go 1/2 mile, and stopping to rest at 1/4 mile. Still trying to work back up to one mile but think it can be done if I keep plugging away.

These are my New Year's resolutions. Will let you know after January how many of them are still in operation.
