Grandma

by Sogipo

Every mother has saved the little notes that her children have delivered to her, probably because she is convinced that one of them - at least - will one day be a best selling author. As I have never thrown anything away since forever, I have quite a collection. Some of these I would like to share with you, having received permission first from the children involved.........

Diane is first with a card she brought me that said:
  • Roses are red, Violets are blue
  • Sugar is sweat and so are you..............
  • Touching, isn't it?

Mike was the one who was always leaving notes and running away. Some of his notes are as follows.
  • I have left, Mother Churchill to the trane.
  • I have left, Michael
  • Dear mother,I went around town as fars I went is to Debbys. from Michael
  • If you want me look in the yard
  • I am going to go to the store and walk around town.
  • You are braking my heart !!!
  • You did not need me so I ran away.........to mother and father from Mike

Diane has a poem to share, apparently I was already addicted to sweets when she was still a girl.

      (hit it)
    • Chocolate cake and cherry pie,
    • Mint ice cream and candied rye,
    • Lemon mousse and peanut cluster,
    • all the cookies she could muster
    • ------------------------but nooooooooooooooo candy
    • Orange doughnuts, sugared yams,
    • Almond crescents, currant jams,
    • Candied grape fruit peel and such,
    • Brownies,lemonade and much (more)
    • -------------------------but nooooooooooooooo candy
    • and to top it off she had,
    • 1. Vanilla Ice Cream
    • 2. Chocolate Sauce
    • 3. Walnuts
    • 4. Cherries---------------------
    • but no------------------------------candy
    • (Sounds like a good diet to me.................)

      Someone wrote;
    • I am thankfull for every thing. I am thankfull for the clowds that shine away on this butfull, butfull, butfull day.
    • Mother, get me up about 8:30, I want to go to church........................
    • "Get me to the church on timmmmmmmmmmmmmmme"
    • The usual Kool Ade stand had an unusual sign taped to the table
    • Kool-Aid for sale, 1 cent per glass, 2 glasses for 4 c.
    • I hope this wasn't the child that grew up to be an accountant !!!!!!!

Mike was supposed to remain after school for some broken rule and some time later I found the following note that he had written to the principal....hopefully it was never delivered.

Dear Mr. Dumke, Would you please let Mike out after school because he must take out sawdust right after he gets home and he sometimes gets home after dark without eaven staying after and after he gets home he has to take care of the horse and eat supper. Then he does his homework so I hope you will understand that there is phy. ed. period and noon to keep him in, Sincerely Yours, Florence C.

In the weekly paper the following item showed up.........
"Run Home" scored by Little Leaguer........

Amberg, Wis. - The outstanding play of a baseball game at Amberg Friday between the Little Leaguers and the Old-Timers was a "run home" by Mickey John C. of Amberg.

The youngster had reached second base. Racing toward third on a teammate's hit, he heard yells of "Go home."

He promptly ran to his house two blocks away.
