Charshe's School Art Page

The pictures on this page are drawn on School black and white boards on the days I was substitute teaching that perticular class. I never drew in front of the children. I started the drawings before school started, during my break and finished the drawings after the class was dismissed. The white board drawings were drawn with the dry markers used to write on the white boards. On the black boards I used colored chauk to do the drawings.

I usually used the seasons or special days of the year to determine the drawing I would do that day. The average drawing took from two to three hours to complete. The average drawing remained on the board for two to four weeks. The longest a drawing ever remained on a board was almost a year by order of the principal. It appears on the other art page and was a drawing of a sea aquarium. It took me three weeks to complete that drawing and I used colored chauk and pastels to do the drawing.

I alway carry my own drawing dry markers and colored chauk for the drawing. The teachers wer either to wore out or they only had black, blue, red and green as a selection and the chauk boards the teacher usually had none existant colored chauk. If I used any pastel I told the teachers the drawings had to be off the boards within three weeks or the oil in the pastels would start settin up.

I have gotten many a request from other teachers to come to their classrooms and decorate their boards for their student for the preticular special day. I have to turn them down and tell them they will have to take a day off and request me as their substitute teacher before I will decorate their boards. Usually I get sent to the hardest classes to control to substitute because if they are a bad class they will get no drawings on their boards. Class work and behavior come first before the drawings. I have erased drawing before because I did not get complete behaviorial control that day. Most all the drawings are done in elementary schools.
