"Get... GET OUT!" Arram had never seen anyone with quite such a fiery temper before, and he couldn't help but be a little bit scared by the screaming pilot (even if she was just a Human female). Really though, he had never seen anyone get so angry about something so small- he hadn't even broken anything yet (and there was a lot on the ship to break). All Arram had done was push a button, a particularly flashy button, which had a blinking red light and simply called to Arram... he had really had no choice but to push the thing. How could he have known it was the purge switch? Anyway, despite the fact that he was innocent of any crime, Arram high tailed it out of the control room, his little hatchling bond Polith trailing behind him- squeaking imploringly. Arram tried to hurry the little Pernese on- but the thing had such tiny legs and Polith seemed more interested in asking questions about what had just happened than getting out of the pilot's way... before she found out what other things Arram had been doing in her cockpit (not that he had really done anything wrong). Why are you running, Arram? Polith questioned pleasantly, unaware that they were both in danger. I thought that you said that no one would mind you testing out the controls. Are we still going to get home? Why are you running so fast? Arram rolled his eyes, and tried to keep moving without answering his bond's silly questions- but Polith really knew how to press a body into paying attention to him... the little Pernese dragon nudged Arram's mind gently but insistently, his questions made prickly and annoying. "Normally," Arram said, when he had found them a suitable hiding place. "A person wouldn't care about someone pushing buttons... I don't know what the lady's problem was. And..." Polith, head cocked curiously, and cut Arram off before he could finish answering all the questions. But Arram... the button dumped all the ship's cargo, and those other buttons... Polith seemed about to list all the things that Arram had inadvertently done, but the Orianz didn't want to hear it. "Look, Polith," Arram said sternly. "You haven't been around as long as I have; I know these people... and I know all about buttons. They usually don't do things like that." Polith sent his bond a quiet apology, but didn't seem convinced. Arram just shook his head- he had been hoping for a partner in a bond, but so far Polith was just too honest to be a good partner... plus he didn't know anything! Are we still going home, Arram? Polith dared to ask. Arram just nodded his head- and took the time to glance around the wall that was concealing the two of them. No one was coming... he would have hated to meet up with that Human again. "We should be there in a few minutes," Arram said knowingly (he had looked through the ship's maps briefly before he had accidently deleted them... and they had looked pretty close to Jhiirsai). Polith tapped at his bond's foot, and Arram looked down at the hatchling- wondering what the problem was. The Pernese dragonet was pointing insistently behind Arram... The Orianz turned slowly around to stare up into the face of the steaming pilot, whose red face and grinding teeth made it well apparent that she had in fact discovered the other things that Arram had done (not that any of it was his fault). Somehow, Arram knew, looking into the furious eyes of the woman, that they wouldn't be home any time soon... |
