Charles Casha |
Born at Marsa. He was educated at the Lyceum and after completing a two-year course at St.Michael's Training College he joined the Education Department as a teacher in the Primary Sector. In 1970 he started teaching Maltese in the Secondary Schools. He is also a school-librarian.
In 1982 he was awarded a certificate in Library Techniques and in 1985 a diploma in Language Studies (Maltese) from the University of Malta.
He started writing while still a young student at the Lyceum. In the late sixties he became well known among young readers with his humorous stories about the jolly character "Fra Mudest" which were first published in the "Children's Own".
However his writings for children include also adventure novels, short stories, plays and text-books. The set of books "Kun Af " gained popularity in a very short time and are still widely used.
The same could be said for the series " Naqraw ma'...."
His book "Il-Klabb - L-Ghaxar Anniversarju ", written for adolescents was awarded the Literary Prize for children's Literature in 1998.
He has also written a number of books for adults, namely four novels and short stories. Total number of publications amount to 35.
Charles Casha is married to Mary nee Casingena and has three children, Stefanja, Mark and Kristjana.
