Appendix 4: Calling all pagan gods?

One version of the Bible, referred to as a "names Bible", titled *"The Scriptures" (published in South Africa), includes a list of approximately 1,100 words which the authors say should not be used.
The following lists are just a few of those 1,100 words, which the authors say should not be spoken, or written, because they were once used to refer to pagan gods.

Names, breeds or species of animals, which cannot be used include: Angus, coon, Brahma, hippo (or horse), hybrid, panda, python, Rhesus (monkey), bull, ox, tyrannus, vampire (bat), elephant, and the word, animals.

Many astronomy names and associated terms can not be spoken or written: Aquarius, Aurora Borealis, Apollo, rising, time, aura, aurora, aperture, castor, centaurus, bull, cancer, season, core, corona, space, crater, earth, event, Gemini, Jupiter, calendar, lunar, Mars, Mercury, Nike, Neptune, north, east, west, south, night, numbers, zero, ocean, Orion, air, sky, Pegasus, Pluto, Saturn, solar, sun, Triton, Titan, Venus, Virgo, galaxy, Cassandra, and comet.

Some references to dates, time and seasons would be forbidden: January, February, March, May, June, July, August, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, calendar, month, minute, time, numbers, zero, season, summer, and winter.

Forbidden names of countries, continents, and geographic names and associated words would include: Egypt, Ethiopia, Africa, America, Amazon, Andes, Arabia, Arcadia, Argentina, Asia, China, Columbia, Corinth, Carmel, Cuba, Damascus, Athens, Alta(dena), (San) Andreas, (Los) Angeles, Crete, Ephesus, Europe, land, country, Germany, Italy, Latin, Libya, Memphis, north, east, west, south, ocean, Olympus, Paris, Rhode, Rome, Victoria, volcano, Volta, Luxor, Tempe, and (Penn)sylvania.

Neither could you speak of the inhabitants of these countries: i.e. Americans, Asians, Africans, Chinese, Colombians, Cubans, Europeans, Germans, Italians, Romans, etc..

Some automobiles and related words which one could not mention, include: Austin, Calias, Madza, Cortina, Cressida, Corona, Electra, Lotus, (Checker's) Marathon, Mercury, Mercur, Mercedes, Pantera, Saturn, Taurus, Volvo, (VW's) Thing, Triumph, Heil (trailers), Viper, (Crown) Victoria, Festiva, Triton (motor), Mustang, or a demo (ride), car, oil, mechanic, or license (permit, tag).

Medical, anatomical and associated terms forbidden, include the following or those derived from: hospital, man, wo(man), life, cure, syringe, fever, gram, hygiene, Latin, lethal, narcotic, stimulant, terminal, terminate, test, therapy, thing, venereal, epidemic, arachne, atropos, atrophy, bubona, ammonia, biceps, brevis, calyce, canthus, carpos, cephalus, clitor, colchis, erythras, ether, glaucus, hepat, hermaphrodite, hunger, hybrid, hymen, hypnosis, disaster, kolpia, corona, mania, mature, melaene, memory, mercury, metra, metro, misery, moderate, morpheus, morose, oil, omphale, ophthalmitis, orthus, ortho, ossa, pallor, pandemic, paragoros, penis, priapus, pollux, psyche, rape, rectus, rhesus, saturate, somnia, sperm, staphylus, talus, tarsius, tartar, temper, virile, viscosa, vita(men), vulva, xanthe, numbers, zero, nepenthe.

In contrast, another "names" Bible, titled, The Hebrew Names Version of the World
English Bible (HNV) seems to use a more random approach, changing even some common nouns to Hebrew, while leaving "God" and "Lord" alone in the New Testament.
