Welcome. On Labor Day of 2000, Yahoo! announced its intention to merge its newly acquired Yahoo! Groups (formerly known as EGroups) with its existing Yahoo! Clubs in a manner that would favor the groups format. Thus, was CFC_Experimental2 (originally CFC_Experimental) born. It began as a teaching community, designed to assist owners and moderators (founders) of the former Yahoo! clubs in acquiring familiarity with the Yahoo! groups features prior to this expected conversion. Members were invited to request moderator status so that they might experiment by using these features, often with one-on-one interaction via Yahoo! Instant Messenger and chat. Message board discussion examined the limitations and drawbacks to some of the features, introduction of alterations instituted by Yahoo!, design aspects for customizing group display as well as other Yahoo! services ancillary to groups use.
Beginning in December 2001, Yahoo! cut off the creation of clubs in total, referring those desiring to create a community to use the groups model instead. And finally, in February of 2002, clubs were converted albeit with the exclusion of some aspects and features originally promised. These two moves made it imperative that former club administrators find some venue for experimentation and practice with features and design. CFC_Experimental2 continues today as that venue. We are an instructional test group, where members may request assistance through YIM while performing hands-on, or simply play with features outside of visual range of their members and without risk of disturbing important group data.
You need not be a member of Club Founders' Club, Yahoo_Group_Of_Groups, or any other of the family of CFC groups to join, but you must be a Yahoo! groups administrator to be granted moderator privilege and use all facilities (see the group for details). |
