ABOUT THE SHOW!

THE WB TELEVISION NETWORK
INTERVIEW WITH: MEREDITH MONROE
EDITED BY: BRAD VERITY

Q:
Meredith, tell us about getting the part on "Dawson's Creek"...

MM:
I got the part of Andie McPhee - it was July 10th, I believe, the day I actually found out I had
it. It was very exciting! Prior to that, I had had an initial audition, and then three weeks
later, I found out I got a callback. The callback was on a Monday, and I thought, "oh, no, I
don't know if I did well or not." Then Tuesday morning, they ["Dawson's Creek' producers] said,
"You're testing!" I was screaming, I was so excited. Testing means you go in and meet with the
studio [Columbia/TriStar Television] people and then you meet with The WB Network people.
And it's usually this huge room full of all these people and nerve-wracking. I had my audition
on Thursday with the studio and then I went back on Friday with the network and met everybody.
They were all very nice. I was really excited as opposed to nervous so my adrenaline was pumping!
It was great!

Q:
Had you seen "Dawson's Creek" before you got the part?

MM:
This is what happened. I'm a regular "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" viewer. [laughs] And "Buffy"
brought me into "Dawson's Creek," so now I'm a junkie. It was great when I found out I had the
audition because I already knew all the characters and everything that had been going on in the
storyline. I was excited and couldn't believe it: "Wait a minute! Me? Me?" Because I watched the
show every Tuesday. I'm totally up-to-date with everything that was going on.

Q:
Tell us about the character you're playing. What can we expect from her in the new season?

MM:
Andie McPhee is goofy...she's funny...she's a ?spaz'...she's crazy. She talks a mile a minute -
like me, actually. She's preppie, really conservative about certain things, and has to make sure
everything's done right. At the same time, she's kind of in her own world and oblivious to
everything that's going on around her. She creates a little havoc and craziness, and just somehow
floats through it. She has a brother named Jack, and they've just moved to Capeside and start
mixing and meeting everybody. I don't know what the season's going to bring. There might be some
love interests, but I don't know what else they have in store for Andie. I'll keep you posted,
though, and
you'll have to check it out!
