My Fishing Spot

In August of 1998 I got to go freshwater fishing for the first time. This is something I had been wanting to try for many years but had never met anyone who would take the time to teach me how. Ironically, Sherri Lynn, who I met through my affiliation with Kappa Beta & the TGA, was not only a crossdresser, but an avid fisherman (or is it fisherwoman?? *grin*) as well! This was great for me, because now I had someone who could not only understand and accept my transgendered nature, but also teach me the finer points of the art of fishing.

Sherri and I made our way out to a local lake and, using her tackle, she started teaching me how to fish. I had the time of my life, actually catching a few fish in the process! Not too long thereafter, I was hooked! As soon as I saved up enough money I purchased my own tackle and have been fishing ever since. One of the things that I found unique was that I had found someone who not only knew about all kinds of fishing, but who specialized in European bank fishing, which I found fascinating.

Using an ultra-lite 11' European bank rod for the first time was an interesting experience. No one and nothing was safe from me for quite awhile until I got used to casting it! True to the European style, I also got used to using maggots for bait, which is something that has not really caught on here in the U.S. I have found them to be a much cleaner and easier alternative to earthworms or crickets, though I cannot say much for the smell!

I have caught catfish, bluegill, bream, crappie, pumpkinseed, rainbow perch, & shiners using this bait. I also use corn, chicken livers, and a variety of crankbaits. So far my record catch number has been 54 fish in an afternoon sitting. I have not caught anything with any real size to it except a few catfish and I did get the pleasure of reeling in a 6-7 pound carp!

My growing passion for fishing lead me to purchase a small bass boat in March of '99, which I have taken out a few times but I found boat fishing to be very different indeed from fishing from the bank, and I soon realized that I still have much to learn. (I also realized that going to the bathroom while in the boat will definitely cause some problems! *grin*) Having bought the boat I started delving into bass fishing, which is a whole other entity in and of itself! I hope to get out more and improve my skills.

Below are a few of my favorite fishing related links and I hope to be adding more pictures of my catches and my favorite fishing spots soon so stay tuned!
