Wildlife and flora fill the sense in the Okefenokee Swamp.  in 1937, 396,000 acres of the Okefenokee Swamp were set aside as The Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge to protect the swamp's valuable ecosystem.  This preserve abounds with water-covered prairies, huge cypress trees, alligators, osprey, and sandhill cranes.
