The Legend of the Kikkotei The Beginning of Time The Kikkotei were created during this time. They were created by some unknown force that was beyond the knowledge of the gods of the Earth. The Kikkoteis power was equal to the power that created this universe. Because of this the Kikkotei could not remain together, so the White Kikkotei was sent away from Africa. The purpose of the Kikkotei existence was to maintain the balance between good and evil in the world. The Kikkotei themselves were neither good nor evil. They were a neutral power. Because the Kikkotei were separated, they were also unaware of the others existence. If they were to have become aware of the other it would have created an imbalance of the power, and they would have fought each other, which would have ended everything. Africa is where the first humans appeared. Humans have an innately evil side as well as an innately good side. Unfortunately the evil side was stronger than their good. Humans were greedy, jealous. They wanted power and sought it out. The Black Kikkotei reacted to this negative energy and was awakened. To a humans vision this black armor was a savior, something good, and thus became a god.
The Jomon and Yayoi periods of Japanese history are still quite a mystery. The Jomon culture was that of hunters and gatherers, while the Yayoi people were farmers. The change between these two cultures was too fast for it to have naturally happened. Most scholars believe that the Jomon people were defeated by the Yayoi who came from somewhere else (could be Korea/China, Indonesia, Russia, or even Alaska). This is how I think it happened. The Jomon people lived peacefully at first. But soon started to battle each other for game and such. There could have been a famine or something that caused this to happen, its hard to tell. But the White Kikkotei, who was in the area (maybe in China doing some cleaning up), came over to take care of the imbalance the people had created. The White Kikkotei destroyed most of the Jomon culture and encouraged others to migrate to the island creating the Yayoi culture. Nara (710-794AD) and Heian (794-1185AD) Periods
Their first capital was in the city of Nara, but Buddhism (which had been imported onto the island via Korea) had already been very popular and remained so even with the new religion. Nara was nothing but a city of temples, and these temples had some control over the government. To stop this control the capital was moved to Heian-kyo (current day Kyoto). During this time, Im sure you can imagine all the negative energy that was being released by the humans in their quest for supremacy and power. This was causing another imbalance. The gods of this land forced this negative energy onto another plane so that the Kikkotei would not appear again and destroy their people. Because of these actions, Arago and the Youjakai were born. During the Heian period Arago emerged into the human world with a mind to conquer it. The gods, knowing this could possibly trigger an attack by the Kikkotei, recruited Kaosu to stop Arago. They also gave him some help in the form of a white tiger, Byakuen. Kaosu used the power given to him by the gods to force Arago back into the Youjakai. However, not only did Arago go into the Youjakai, but another force was sent with him in the form of a black tiger, Kokuen. It was Kokuens job to help control the evil energies in the Youjakai. Where as Byakuen was in charge of keeping the evil energies out of the human world. Arago was gone, but his armor remained. Kaosu knew that the armor could not remain whole for it would keep the world imbalanced. He then split the armor into the nine and assigned virtues to them to balance out their power, and sealed them away. Arago, at this time, too became aware of the Kikkotei and the threat it would have in his plans to conquer the human world. Now, he had to find a way to enter the human world without awakening its power against him. Warring States Period (the latter half of the Muromachi period 1330 1600) By this point in time, the warrior class had become extremely powerful. Even though they fought to gain power they also followed a strict code of honor. Because of this, the balance of power remained fairly balanced. They were warriors, they killed people, but they showed mercy and in their own ways were trying to help the country. Arago was able to open the gates to the human world at this time as well, but he knew there was no way he could mount an assault on the world (even though it would have been the perfect time to do so). He preceded to recruit the four masho to his army and gather the four mashos armor. He also collected Kayura at this time. Its possible that Arago thought that buy adding humans to his force he could balance out the negative energies for when he would attack the human world. Kayura would be a main force in this since she came from Kaosus clan and retained some of the power the gods had given him and his clan. World War II There was very little any god in the world could do to prohibit the Kikkotei from taking action against all the negativity going on, and no amount of ideals could balance it all out. However, there was a power in the world that could possibly do it. Kaosu awakened the five yoroi that had been sealed since their creation and released their power guided by the five virtues to even out that cause by the war. He also did it to stop the flow of negative energy from going into the Youjakai and making Arago stronger. It was successful and the war eventually was ended. Kaosu then left the awakened armors in the care of noble families who he knew would take care of them (rejecting their power) until they were needed. 1988/1989 So, Arago attacks. He found a way in which he could pull the human world into the Youjakai so that the Kikkotei would not stop him. At first this is a small thing, just taking Shinjuku and the surrounding area, but at the end he starts implementing it over all of the Kanto. At the end of the first season Ryo calls upon the White Kikkotei. The White Kikkotei was pretty much unaware of what was going on because the effected area was technically not in the human world but in the Youjakai. Kaosu knew that because of this without the five troopers the world was doomed. So, he encouraged/tricked Ryo into calling upon the White Kikkotei. Battling with the Kikkotei Because it was something that they associated with Kaosu and their own yoroi they thought it too had a virtue and waited for it to show itself. Until that happened they had to rely on the combination of their own virtues to control it. However, they were never able to. They could call upon it, but after it was called it kind of did its own thing, and only disappeared when its purpose was met. Kikkotei Densetsu The five armors of the Samurai Troopers were innately evil. They were originally part of Aragos armor and were only balanced out by the virtues assigned to them by Kaosu. In their search for more power to beat Arago and control the Kikkotei the power of the virtues over the yoroi had weakened. The evilness of the armors had outbalanced the goodness of the virtues. This had all actually started when Ryo first called upon the Kikkotei because all he was looking for was power. The Black Kikkotei became aware of this shift in power after Arago was defeated the first time and the Kikkotei was used against Saranbo. The Black Kikkotei sought out the five armors to destroy them so that everything could be brought back into balance. It took it a year or so, but eventually the Black Kikkotei found the five armors and went to take care of the job. While battling with the five the Black Kikkotei became aware of the large power that was hidden behind the five. It became aware of the existence of the White Kikkotei. Its goal then shifted to get rid of the more powerful of armor. It wanted to fight and destroy the Kikkotei. Its trace of power was strongest in Ryo which is why Ryos armor resonated and was taken to Africa where the Black Kikkotei would be strongest. In battling with the Kikkotei the Troopers realized neither had virtues and that all they wanted was to fight. They realized that their own armors had been controlling them and all they wanted to do was fight as well. When they saw this realization they lost the power to control their armors and had to resist the armors and force themselves not to fight. They realized that it was their virtues that needed to be stronger. Once they realized this they were able to call upon their yoroi, call upon the White Kikkotei and for the first time control it. Shin finds out that the armors have much more power in them than just that to fight. They all realize that if for some reason any of them were to lose control over their armor that the world could be destroyed, so, along with the Kikkotei they fought to destroy all the armors. The swords and jewel The Jewel of Life was the power that was handed down to Kaosu and his clan by the gods. It was a force that could help them battle the demon from the Youjakai. The swords were actually the Kikkoteis. After the Kikkotei defeated the Jomon people, it found a nice comfortable place to hide out until it was needed again. While the Kikkotei was resting some of the gods went down and took its swords. Because this did not cause the unbalance of power the Kikkotei did not awaken. The gods didnt want to use the swords, just keep them safe; there was no malice in their act. One of my favorite stories of the gods is that between the sun goddess, Amaterasu, and her brother the moon god, Susano-O. Susano-O was not a very good God. He was always causing trouble. Finally he did something that caused his parents to send him to the land of Yomi (which is Hell I think). Before he went off to Yomi he asked to see his sister one more time. Since he was being so polite about it they agreed and let him up into the land of heaven. While Amaterasu was weaving some cloth for the gods Susano-O made a hole in the ceiling and dropped a cut up horse I believe into the hall were she was. She was so scared that she locked herself up in a cave. While the gods were busy trying to get Amaterasu out of the cave and bring light to the world again, I think that Susano-O snuck and took the swords of the Kikkotei. Then when he was banished into the land of the Yomi he took them with him. Over time (and because I imagine there is a fine line between hell and the Youjakai) they fell into the hands umm paws of Kokuen. |
