Brenna and Jason spent more and more time with each other, talking out their
problems and taking comfort in each other. With Brenna always out with Jason,
Juan began to spend time with Emily. The two would go out to the movies or to
dinner. Emily had a secret crush on him, and oblivious to her, he too liked
her. Lizzie knew that Emily liked and Juan and she urged her to tell him, but
as most shy girls, she wouldn’t admit it. So Lizzie took matters into her own
hands by having Nikolas talk to Juan about Emily and finding out how he felt
about her. Well needless to say Juan told Emily how he felt and the two got
closer.
Emily told Juan he needed to tell Sonny that he believed he is was his son.
Juan was still unsure about it. He wanted Sonny to admit it to him, without
being asked. Brenna said the same thing Emily did. They both believed that the
only way he will find out the truth is by asking. Brenna was getting restless.
She was enjoying her time in Port Charles, but when it came down to it, she
really missed her family and friends back home.
“Do you…miss them?” Brenna asked Juan as she sat down beside him on the bed.
“Miss who?” He asked surprised by the question.
“Your parents. The Santiagos.”
“They are not my parents. Sonny and Lily are my parents. The Santiagos were
merely peoople I spent a short period of my life with.”
“Juan you have been with them all your life. You have only seen your real
parents a few times, before you came searching for Sonny, who could possiably
NOT be your father.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean you have no proof. You don’t know, he’s your father. You only believe
he is.”
“I am going to tell him.” Juan told her. “ I am going to let him know, that I
know he is my father. Then everything will be so much better. We can be a
family.”
“What about me?” Brenna asked.
“What do you mean?”
“If Sonny is your father, you will move out here with him. I can’t stay here, I
will go back to Puerto Rico to live with my family.”
“I never thought of it like that.”
“SO you thought I’d just move in with you and Sonny. Juan I love my parents. I
know they aren’t my biological parents, but they have given me a lot and had
faith in me over the years. They never gave up on me and no matter what I did,
they didn’t send me back. They loved me enough to put up with my shit. Juan I
want to go home and I want you to go with me.”
“Why did you come here with me?” He yelled.
“I wanted to show you that your life was already complete. I guess I wanted you
to meet the man you believed was your father. To find out the truth. I wanted
to show you that you were already happy being with The Santiagos and… me.”
“I never said I wasn’t happy.”
“Well then why did you want to run away and leave your life in Puerto Rico?”
Brenna yelled.
“I had to find Sonny. I had to find out why he and my mother gave me up.”
“Well I hope you find out soon, because we can’t stay here forever.” Brenna
told him. He nodded.

The Penthouse…
“Johnny said that he saw Brenna here last night.” Sonnt said to Jason. Jason
stood quietly. “Was she?” Jason nodded. “Jason I told you…”
“I know Sonny. Our relationship is wrong, but I can’t do anything about it. I
think I’m inlove with her.”
“You mean you’re in lust with her.”
“Yeah.”
“Jason, she’s seventeen!”
“I know that!”
“You could be put in jail! That’s what Taggert want’s you and me both in jail.
This is just helping him.”
“Well--” Jason began, but stopped when Johnny came in.
“Brenna and Juan are here.” Johnny said. Sonny looked at Jason. “Should I
send them in?” Sonny nodded.
Brenna and Juan came into the room quietly. Sonny nodded, acknowledging their
presence, obviously aware that they came baring information. Brenna looked at
Juan, waiting for him to say something.
“Umm…we’ve come to…” Juan began.
“To tell the truth.” Brenna added. “First of all, we’re not brother and
sister.”
“We’re best friends.”
“This we knew.” Sonny told him.
“You knew?” Juan asked.
“I had your records tracked down. I knew who you were from the very beginning.”
“Oh…” Juan said. He looked at Brenna.
“I know everything, except… for the reason you came to Port Charles.”
“I came to Port Charles to find my father.”
“Your father?” Sonny asked.
“I know you’re my father, Sonny.” Juan told him. Brenna watched Sonny’s
reaction. He looked shocked.
“Juan, I…”
“I remember when you gave me the pendant. You said my mother and father will
always love me and that maybe one I’ll see my father again.” Juan smiled.
“That day has come.” Sonny looked at Brenna then at Jason.
“Juan, why do you think I am your father?” Sonny asked quietly.
“I don’t think. I know. You came to see me, when my mother fies. You said I
could come to you whenever I needed anything.”
“Juan, this is… the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.” He looked Juan in the
eye. “ I am not your father.” Brenna closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“You have to be, you…” Juan muttered.
“I’m not. I wish I were but I’m not.” Sonny said softly. “Your father’s name
is Miguel Morez. He’s a musician.”
“No.” Juan said.
“He and Lily were secret lovers. When she became pregnant, she and Miguel gave
the baby up for adoption to hid their relationship from her father. When her
father foud out they were together, she was forced into a relationship with me.
We were married as a kind of buisness transaction.” Sonny paused. “If her
father ever found out that Lily, had a son by Miguel there is no telling what he
might have done. Your parents saved your life. You owe them in more ways than
one.”
“You said you loved her.”
“I did love her. We grew to love each other. That’s when she told me about her
and Miguels child. She wanted to find you Juan. She wanted to make sure she
had done the right thing.”
“Why didn’t she then?”
“She did. I helped her search and we found you in Puerto Rico. All she wanted
was to see you and make sure you were happy. We got as far as the fonrt door.
She saw you and your family through the window. I remember it clearly, you were
all sitting on the couch watching something on the telivision. Everyone was
cuddled together, amused by the display on TV. That’s all she needed to see.”
Sonny lowered his head. “I am sorry. I wish I were your father, but I am not.
Mr. Santiago is your father. He raised you. He loved you. That is what a
father does.”
“Juan, he’s right.” Brenna told him. “Its obvious Miguel and Lily loved you,
that’s why they gave you a better life, one they couldn’t provide.” Juan sat
still unable to say anything. He knew they were right and he finally realized,
he missed his parents. His adopted parents.
“We should go.” Juan finally said.
“I’m sorry you came down here for nothing.” Sonny told him.
“It wasn’t nothing.” Juan told him. “ I found out all I needed to know. I
just wanted to know why… I was given up. You answered my questions. Thank you.
I think I am ready to go now.”
“Home?” Brenna asked.
“Yes.” He told her. “Thank you for sticking by me. I know you didn’t want me
to come down here.”
“I’m just glad you found out the truth.” Brenna hugged Juan. He turned to
Sonny.
“Thank you for everything. You have been way to kind to both of us and very
tolerable.”
“It was a pleasure to have you both here and I hope you both come back for a
visit sometime.” Sonny smiled his dimpled smile.
“Oh we sure will.” Juan told him, huggin him.
“How are you two getting home?” Jason asked. The two looked at each other.
“Same way we got here.” Brenna said. “Stowing away on a ship.”
“Nah.” Sonny said. “We’ll fly you down there. I’ll have Johnny gas up the
jet.”
“You have your own jet? No way.” Brenna asked excitiedly.
“Yep I sure do.”
“With reclining seats.” Jason added.
“Oooh I’m liking this idea more and more.” She put her arms around Jason’s neck
and kissed him softly.
“I can’t wait to see your father’s face when you introduce him to Jason.” Juan
laughed.
“On second though, maybe we should stay here. It’s safer.” Brenna said.
Everyone laughed.
Brenna and Juan spent three more days in town before leaving for Puerto Rico.
They told their friends the truth about everything and they were all
understanding. They thanked Tammy for her help and promised their new friends
they would be back next summer.
