Tutti motif (a) in monophonic texture emphasizing on the note ‘G’ with alternating descending first note. Unexpected pause. Motif repeated a 5th higher on ‘D’.

Vln 1  and Solo vln begins motif (b) which is a descending scale starting on G. Imitative passage between vln 1, solo vln and vln 2. Each time beginning higher outlining on g minor chord.

Inverted motif (b) stated by vln 1, 2 and solo, with an answer by vla as BC plays a dominant pedal.

Motif (c) which consist of descending broken chords in vln 1 , solo and ascending in vln 2 accompanied initially by tonic pedal. Modulation through various keys.

Solo 1

Vln 1, 2 ,solo plays ascending scalic figure leading to vln solo (Solo theme (a)) at a high register. Virtuosic passage with big leaps , alternating with A and D. Tonic pedal in BC. 4 bar phrase repeated a 5th lower. Vln solo plays alone with solo theme (b) which consist of melodic descending 2nds. Monophonic texture.

Shorter motif (b) in imitative passage between the vla and BC. Upper strings play broken chordal figure. BC moving in circle of 5ths ( F+ - Bb+ - Eb+)

Inverted motif (b) played by vln solo, 1, 2 answered by vla in contrary motion.

Motif (a) in different key played by vlns only.

New solo theme, this time accompanied by BC. Vln Solo this time plays in 2 parts (double stopping). Long held top note with descending 3rds accompaniment. Inverted solo theme (b) in ascending sequence.

Motif (a) still in c minor but shortened, played in descending sequence. Monophonic texture. Leap to higher range and moves its way down using descending sequence again.
