Caldy Manor, an old manor house formerly belonging to the Whitmore family and now the seat of James Ismay esq., was built in 1696 an denlarged in 1850: the manor and home farm cover 800 acres. Soil is sandy; subsoil rocky. The area is 753 acres; rateable value £1,557; the population is 1891 was 170.

The church of St Bartholomew, rebuilt in 1824 on the old site, at the expense of the late Mrs Lucy Browne and other landowners, and again rebuilt in 1885 by the family of the late Joseph Hegan esq of Dawpool, at a cost of about £6,000, is a building of red sandstone in the Early Decorative style, consisting of chancel, nave, organ chamber, north porch and a tower with pinnacles and spire containing a clock and 5 bells; the pulpit is of alabaster and marble and the font of Mexican onyx; the east and west windows are stained, and there are five brasses t members of the Waterhouse family, joseph Hegan esq, William Atherton and T and T Ismay; the church affords sittings for 150 persons; an arched gateway was erected in 1900 by Mrs Ismay, in memory of her husband.
In 1900 the late Thomas Ismay left £1,000,
the interest of which is to be given to the poor of the parish, being members
