Dear Web Wanderer and Bike Fanatic.... This message is a closing remark and special thanks to everyone I have met over the last 19 months. The Vroom concept is nothing more than an escape for me. When I was without a bike a few years ago, I would let my imagination run wild. I yearned for a new motorcycle and the freedom that it brought me in the past. There is nothing I enjoy more than riding on a warm summer night, the sun setting on the horizon, the music playing in my ears and the look of several bikes "riding off into the sunset.". A lot has happened over this year. I indeed bought a NEW bike (my CBR F4) and created a bike club filled with some of the best and greatest personalities around. WE have seen our ups and downs. We have had road trips which left smiles on our faces for days afterwards. We have gotten tickets. We have crashed. We have learned new tricks. We have become better riders. And we have lost some riders this year. All in all, I would trade nothing for the year I have had. I wanted to thank each and everyone out there for their contribution in making me a better person. And I guess I will start with a person who made a tremendous impact in my life, even though I had only met him once. Michael Battle. Tragically, Mike died on April 16 of this year in a motorcycle accident. I had met him 2 weeks prior to his death, and the encounter was like any other you might have with a person you don't know. However, I had heard so many things about him, that it was nice to put a face to the name. Deanna, Mike's sister, and one of the Vroom Crews very own, looked up to Mike more than I can describe. She has shown me that it is possible to bridge the gap between 'groups' and take people for what they are, not what they are 'about'. After talking with so many people, I started to fully realize what type of impact he had on the world. His death affected me probablly more than anyone has realized. From him, I took the quality of making a difference in peoples' lives. Steve, the first crew member and one of my closest friends, has taught me the value of friendship. He has been there, without question, this whole time. Then there is Andy. Here is a guy with a huge heart and even bigger laugh. He is the unsung hero of the crew. He has a passion for bikes and his friends which runs very deep. He as taught me the value of honour. Then there is Rob. While I have had my ups and downs with everyone, including Robbie, he has shown me than one truly ages and gets old when one gives up. Don't let others dictate expectations to you. You are on your own clock. We act how we feel, not how we are! Then we have Jon. Jon displays a child like wonder which has always brought a smile to my face. He displays perserverance. Dean has taught me the the value of 'thanks'. The little small messges about 'the page looks great' really made me feel great. Rene has taught me the value of 'limits' and boundries. He has done some utterly crazy things. I think he personifies my favorite quote "carpe diem", Glen, has always made me laugh. His humour and care free attitude are one of a kind. Mike. Boy!-here is a guy who likes the attention more than me. He always pushed me to come up with crazier ideas.."ohhh...ohhh..how about we try this Mike???. |
Angie, for some reason you always remind me of consistancy. Maybe it was the constant breaking down of her CBR, but she is what my mother would call a "grinder". Keep plugging away and you will get there in the end. Then there is Simon. He has shown me the quality of growth and change. He may get the award for most improved vroom member in my eyes. However, my thoughts become jummbled when I think of Jack. A guy who defines hooligan in my eyes. I am glad he found a family over here in the vroom crew. Jack has taught me the phrase " Do or do not. There is no try." It is possible to be wild! Mike F. is a guy who has a lot of heart. He is a work horse who is realizing his potential. Sean amazes me with his attempts in life. A show man to the end. Amber has displayed to me the quality of not giving up. Her independence is second to none. Nikki displays a sense of stubborness, which in it self is not a bad thing. Hold fast and you can accomplish anything. Bart is a guy filled with passion. His efforts have not gone unnoticed and I thank him very much for keeping us focused and together. Colin-lol...its just a pleasure to watch you wheelie for miles on end. There is always lane open for you over here. Kris- I am glad the vroom crew inspired you to find your own niche! Finally, there is Misti. To her, I will simply say thank you. You are on your way to being one of the best riders on the island. You simply are amazing. Never give up!!! Well, the season is over for me. I sell my bike tomorrow. Not sure when I will get a new one. Just remember to keep you signal lights on for me in the future. To any others I have missed-I simple say thanks. Best wishs and hugz....
