HISTORY OF VROOM

How did Vroom start?

Well, the origins of Vroom start in July of 1998. That is when
Flash bought his Katana 750 RR. He road around Victoria non stop, looking for other bikers. He knew that "riders" hung out, but the question was where? So, he decided to go to the one place in Victoria where everyone could see him...The Empress Hotel.

The Empress Hotel is
the tourist place in Victoria BC. It is located in the inner harbour, right on a lovely stretch of road we call the causeway. Flash sat in front of the Empress, looking for other riders. Then, one spring day, Tex came strolling up, girl in tow, and said "that's a Katana right? I have a 98." Well, the two exchanged numbers.

Let's say that both guys didn't have much to do during the first few months of summer 99. They woke up late, rode around town, and of course, sat on the causeway, watching the "world go by" as it were. Now there were two.

So, Flash and Tex sat there and decided that they would just wave in bikers as they went by. Enter
Iron Man late April 99. He gets waved in. We sit, shoot the shit, and watch the world go by (get my drift yet?). Now were is three.

Some weeks later, a rumbling could be heard from blocks away. What was it? It shook the very ground we stood upon. Our "biker" ears became atuned to the sound of a pipe approaching.

As the three guys waved in this monsterously loud Kawie, with a Muzzy pipe that has to be heard to be believed, they were in for a real shock.
Havok got of his bike. And you know what, his laugh was louder than his pipe!

So, these four guys hung out more and more, enjoying the attention motorcycles got from the general populace. They decide to come up with a name and logo. VROOM was born in June of 1999. From then on, decals were made, shirts, and more members were waved in. The family slowly grew :
Pie Man, Copper, Super Girl, Speed Demon, Venom, Demolition Man, Crash, and more.  Our Sat day rides welcomed up to 15  other riders in town.

The rest is..well....a continuing history...

What do you do? Is there any good riding on Vancouver Island?

You bet. We have some of the best backroads around. We are always looking to meet new people. We love riding, going on road trips (Sportbike West!), and being general hooligans. If anything, VROOM can claim to have some of the funniest people around.

Is VROOM a sport bike club?

Well, if you asking if we are like the Hell's Angels (many respects to my brothers..whew) ..not really. There is no membership fee. If you have a bike, you are welcomed. However, you may have to endure some strange initiation ritual that we think up on the spur of the moment ( Well officer, I haven't seen too many female cops as cute as you so, this wheelie was to get your attention and get you to pull me over. Oh..you are still giving me the ticket? Ah..oh...No worries. <pause> If I do a rolling burnout, then will you go for coffee with me??)

Are there VROOM tee shirts or anyother fun stuff?

Yep. Our NEW logo kicks butt. New stuff coming spring 2000.

How do I get in contact with Vroom?

Just email
