1. Summary of the Key Idea
The key idea from this section is how athiesm and scientism are challenges to faith. Friedrich Nietzsche is a nihilist, a form of athiesm, and believed that "God is dead". This phrase means that belief in God is dead. Two ideas that are vital to his philosophy are his theory of relative values and his belief that some people are more importatnt than others. While Nietzsche talked about how "God is dead", Thomas Hobbes, being a materialist, tried to prove that there is nothing beyond physical matter. St. Ignatius Loyala has differing views than Hobbes and Nietzsche. Ignatius believed in a loving God that created us for a specific purpose, Nietzsche believed there is no one meaning to life that applies to everyone, and Hobbes thought the question of "meaning" is irrelevant.
2. List and Explain two most important ideas you want to remember from this section
One idea that I want to remember from this section is that Ignatius said we should make every choice according to whether it brings us closer to God. There is a Jesuit motto that goes with this statement and it is "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam: For the Greater Glory of God". If we want to live a life closer to God, then we should make wise choices and think carefully if what we're about to do will bring us closer to God or not.
Another idea that I want to remember from this section is NOMA (Non Overlapping Magisteria). This idea from Stephen Jay Gould helps us understand the relationship between science and faith. It states that science has its domain and it tries to explain the physical world while faith has its own domain and helps explain what can't be explained in science. A real life example would be if you wanted to know about the theory of evolution, you would probably go to your science teacher and not your theology teacher. But if you wanted to know about how humans came to live on Earth, then you would ask your theology teacher because that is his domain.

4. Challenges to faith/Faith in my life
A challenge to faith in my life would be my past experiences. I gave somebody one of my school books and they said that they would get it back to me at the end of the day. I went to go get my book back and he said that he lost it so now I don't have that book anymore. This has caused me to lose my faith in people so now I try to not give out my books or anything else that belongs to me for the fear that I will not be getting them back. The challenge to Faith in my life is the problem of evil which says that if God is good and he created everything, then why do bad things happen to good people. My grandparents on my mom's side both died at a young age due to cancer and I don't know why God would do this to my family if he is a good and just God.
