The South of  peninsula of Haiti is the greatest and most beautiful part of Haiti

Its rugged south tip has forests, rivers, waterfalls, and beaches.

national #2

The Route National #2 to Port-au-Prince is very scenic but is frequently almost non-existent and where there is any surface it is often seriously potholed. For the first  90 km it runs along the north coast of the peninsula. At 116 km is the town of Petit Goave (Cr ti Gwav). Visit the the Relais l' Emperor, once the residence of Emperor Faustin 1er (1849-1856). and after comes Leogane, and Port-au-Prince.

Les Cayes: On a wet, coastal plain 196 Km west from Port-au-Prince, Haiti's third city, Les Cayes (Okay).

It  is quiet but without charm. The "Fete Notre Dame" around august 15th is recommended. ILE A VACHE visible from the waterfront  is 20 Km- long island that was Henry Morgan's base for a 1670 raid against Panama.
