Konnichiwa, minna-san! Sukunami Aya desu! Thanks for visiting the cafe! I hope you enjoy your stay!You may be wondering how I discovered the Kinki Kids. Actually, I only ever heard of them earlier this year. Before that, I was pretty clueless when an internet friend mentioned them as one of her favorite music groups. I remember when I read their name in an email of mine. My first reaction was one of shock. "What!?! There's really a band in Japan called the Kinki Kids? What kind of songs do they sing?" Of course, I was thinking of the English usage of the word 'kinky' which has a rather negative connotation. I mean it's hard to bring up the Kinki Kids in a conversation with my average non-Jpop aware friends. When I say I like music by the Kinki Kids, their first reaction is "ewwww....what!? LoL
Luckily, I was able to get past the name and realized hey this is a jpop group and I love jpop music so I should check them out. And so, I looked all over the web for English pages on the Kinki Kids. I figured out the origin of their name, as it represents the region in Japan that Tsuyoshi and Koichi are from. When I found out their surnames, I first thought they were brothers (even though they look nothing alike) or somehow related because they both share the name Domoto. Of course, after much research I found out they aren't related at all and now know a bit more about them than I did before.
I listened to their music from some sites on the web, too. I was really into their music like that. I enjoy listening to all their soundclips in an instant. I wanted to get all their cd, videos, and any merchandise feature them! Of course, I'm still working on their cds as they are expensive for a college student like me. I have to save up!
Anyhow, now I'm a huge fan of the Kinki Kids. I enjoy watching their concerts, too (on video, that is)! I hope anyone who is just learning about them will enjoy my page and have fun learning about them. I know it's especially hard for US and/or English-speaking fans to find out news and information about them. I hope I can help!
